Hello! My name is
Sandra Jordan. I am 31 years old. I have a husband five years, Zane
and a four-year-old daughter, Reese.
She just turned four on Sunday.
I live in the small town of Ford City, Pennsylvania,
where I grew up. I attended college at Edinboro University of PA. I
received a Bachelors Degree in Special Education. After graduating in
1996, I accepted a teaching position in Richmond,
Texas. I taught Resource
(Learning Support) for a year and a half, and then volunteered to be the
Emotional Support Teacher within the same school for a year and a half.
After dating my husband for
7 years, we decided to tie the knot. It was then we decided to move back
home to Ford City. Shortly after returning home,
I started teaching at Craig
Academy, which was
a private partial hospital school for children with severe emotional and
behavioral disabilities. I stayed with Craig Academy
for 3 years.
I also worked in a partial
hospital program through Family Counseling Center of Armstrong County for
one year. My job was similar to the one I held at Craig Academy; the
only difference is that the program was not an approved private school. It was a mental health facility with an
educational component. There are
only two teachers. I taught
elementary and middle school (1st-8th), while the other
teacher taught high school age students (9th-12th).
I recently accepted a
position that is a permanent substitute position for one year in the Deer Lakes School District in Russellton, PA. There is the potential for fulltime
employment after this year. (I have
my fingers crossed!!) I am the third grade learning support teacher. I work with fifteen students in a pull
out program for Reading,
Language Arts, and Math. I love it
so far. The students are
great. It is nice not being sworn
at or threatened by students when they get angry because you asked them to
follow directions. It is an awesome
switch from emotional support.
I have been attending the University of Phoenix since October of 2003 to receive
my Masters Degree in Education with an emphasis in curriculum and
technology. I plan to graduate in
the summer of 2005.
Besides Teaching
and taking care of my family, I enjoy reading Dean Koontz books and
crime novels. I am also a huge CSI fan. I enjoy motherhood, walking, camping,
fishing, and reading to my daughter.
I am looking forward to
starting class and working with everyone.
