SHARING DURING GRIEF

Sharing grief with a friend is giving them permission to express their feelings without criticism. Remember it is not your grief, you have not suffered the loss, don't say to them "I know how you feel" because you don't. Share their thoughts and walk with them.

Sharing is about honoring the spirit; it is not about focusing on the intellect.

Sharing is about communication; it is not about expertise.

Sharing is about learning from others; it is not about teaching them.

Sharing is about walking alongside; it is not about leading or being led.

Sharing is about being still; it is not about frantic movement forward.

Sharing is about learning the gifts of silence; it is not about filling every painful second with talk.

Sharing is about listening with the heart; it is not about analyzing with the head.

Sharing is about bearing witness to the struggles of others; it is not about judging or directing those struggles.

Sharing is about being present to another persons pain; it is not about taking away or relieving the pain.

Sharing is about respecting disorder and confusion; it is not about imposing order and logic.

Sharing is about going to the wilderness of the soul with another human being; it is not about thinking you are responsible for finding the way out.

Endless Love

"Something happened on the day of your birth
A band of sunlight slipped to earth
And scattered its rays
on the days I'd know
And glazed each one with a gentle glow
and through all my times of
pleasure and strife
Your light and your smile
Has graced my life
As I say goodbye
I must celebrate too
For much of my joy
Was born with you"
