Meet Mailani Makainai and Lei Melket, or better known as Keahiwai, two beautiful local girls that has sweeped the sounds of local music of its feet as well as the people of HAWAII. Keahiwai, which in hawaiian means both fire and water, which talks about the different personalities of the two. Even though they have different personalities the one thing that keeps them even good friends is the musical chemistry that they possess.

They started their muscial magic in high school at Maryknoll. They began doing parties and other events that were a way to become known. Both graduated from Maryknoll, Lei 1997 and Mailani 1998. The fact is that they known each other for a long time so there is no reason for them to ever break apart. Both are attending UH and majoring in the Hawaiian Language(Lei) and Family Resources and Hawaiian Studies.

The fact of the matter is that with them growing into the popular local artist that they are one thing will always live is that they are homegrown. They will continue to produce island music as long as they can that will touch the young, old and even the young at heart.

Their album, entitled Local Girls consists of 10 hot tracks that includes the two most requested songs on the island radio stations like, 98.5(Island Rhythms) and 100.3(KCCN). The two most requested songs are, "Over" and "Promised Love".
