Jimmy Eat World

News

08/04/01 The wait is over! Jimmy Eat World has landed in NYC and they rawked! The lyrics, the music, and the stage presence of all the members rocked so freakin much! It's like chocolate ice cream with all the toppings. Seeing Jimmy live defintely augmented my fanaticism for the band. You can check out the pics that the Warped tour peeps took here:

Afterwards, I was the 10th-ish person waiting in line for Jimmy's autograph signing thing. I don't really understand autographs but if it's anything Jimmy-related, you know I'm there. Too bad I didn't have a camera, otherwise I would've taken pictures like a paparazzi or somethin. They were all really nice and humble. It was insane, it was my first time meetin the guys. That was totally amazing! :)

With a payphone on each ear, I finally got thru and was #38 and #39. When I got there, a few peeps were waiting for JEW too. Whew! It was good to see that I wasn't the only JEWanatic :) We chatted and it turns out one of the girls go to my college. What a small city!? The standby line cut off on #35, I was royally skrewed. Later nice roadie Mike, gave the girls cds that they don't have of JEW. A few minutes later, the van with JEW in it came and I was like "whoa." I've never met a band before in such a small setting. The warped tour doesn't count b/c it was a sign and go kinda thing. It was me, the handful of peeps and them. I always had the jitters. But "if not now, then when?" So I found the cahones and talked to the guys one on one who were so nice and humble. They rock so much! Check out the pics here: Jimmy Eat World on David Letterman

12/18/01 Our day-long excursion to see Jimmy Eat World on Conan O'Brien Some pics.

02/13/02 So I hear JEW is Gold. Kudos for em. Got some articles scanned from someone online and you can access em here: Scanned Articles by Frosberg aka Shenny

04/2/02 Left my casa at 5 am on a saturday friggin morning and waited till 1pm to get my tickets to see Jimmy Eat World! Then comes Tuesday, and I waited since 2:30 to get into the show. All that waiting was worth it! Jimmy played most of my favs. Not many from static but we all cant go back to circa 96-97. One downer was these girls in front of me moving their body back and forth so fast like they were humpin da dam railin, a bit too freakish during sweetness. i dont mind ppl dancing but its another thing when u delibritely start shit, i aint takin that! But she got kicked in the face by some crowd surfer, ha! Check out the pics here: Jimmy at Irving Plaza

04/6/02 Left my statistics class at 2pm and got to Rockefeller center around 2:30 and there were 18 people standing to wait on the SNL standby line already! The first people on line were from Canada and was there since 7 am in Friday morning. That means they would've waited 24 hours outside in the freezing weather to get standby tix. How friggin crazy is that! They should've gone shoppin or something. None of the people in front of me were there for jimmy. But I did tell em that if they do get in (which is unlikely) scream as loud as they can whenever they mention em. So I didn't stay on the standby line b/c my chances of getting into SNL were really slim, since I'm #19. I didn't want to wait 17 hours outside with my cold for tix that was not guaranteed. Anyways, jimmy's performance rocked out! Here is a funny page of Tom and Cameron Diaz

06/04/02 Saw the band in DC at the 9:30 club. The 4 hour excursion from nyc brought me to the an even more ghetto hood, kinda like ghetto in staten island. Went downtown to Chinatown, saw all 4 blocks of it haha, that's when I realized how much I heart my ghetto chino hood.

Met groovy peeps who came from almost every corner of the states: Shenny and Joyce from Cali, Sang from Florida, Cindy from NJ, well that aint that far but its all good.

When we were waiting outside on line we got to see Zach's wife and daugher who were beautiful, much props to her for keeping that great figure after the baby, Rick's bro and Rick himself, and Jim. Heard the sound check which was mad funny with Jim's hey hey hey's and a tease of roller queen.

Some guy came out w/a camera and asked what we like a/b jimmy and I said lyrics and then he asked us to sing lyrics from songs and I sang no sensitivity horribly, I didn't get to sing my fav line: "You dont have to scream to say something you honestly mean." aka: calm the freak down bitch. o wellz, hope that gets edited out.

The show started like last time, praise was first. Highlights of the set was defintely Just Watch the Fireworks, What would I say to you now, and as usual No Sensitivity with the F-bomb in the end. DAAM I heart every piece of that song.

Everyone in the band was spewing ENERGY! Jim was just goin all out...u know how he is w/that hop skotch kick he has and the shoulder twisty thing... Tom was awesome as well with his guitar ripple thing on the mike pole, I couldnt see rick well but when I did he looked like he was enjoyin himself! Zach banged the heck outta those new tama drums as usual. Pix: 9:30 club at DC.

06/06/02 Called Letterman standby ticket line from 11am-noon. Two phones on each ear and redialing like a mofo and still didn't get thru at all. Then I went to school paid my summer tuition. Got to the Ed Sullivan Theatre around 2:30-ish and met Shenny and her friend. Dam those boogers, they have tix! I guess the letterman peeps like outta towners. Went around the corner and saw Tom goin into the back door. Gave him thumbs up and said he rocked DC. Chilled around outside and ate some more food. JEN YOU HAD TO BE THERE! It wasn't a Letterman back-door experience without you! Saw Nicholas Cage getting mobbed by fans. Talked to jimmy's nice roadies. Heard their sound check with my ears suctioned next to the back door. Saw the band come out and took pix and signed my DC ticket stub woohoo. And that was it. I'm not lucky with letterman tickets, next time i'll say I'm from somewhere far like alaska instead of crooklyn to get tix or somethin. After Letterman 6.6.02

06/07/02 I must say JIMS VOCALS WAS AWESOME, screaming and freaking out his voice in the majority of the songs like sweetness, and get if faster, just friggin going all CRAZY w/his vocal chords. and yes he said "when u kiss me" during sweetness" aaaaaah and droped the f-bomb during no sensivity. he did the rockstar thing and stood on zach's drum podium during get it faster i think. rick did some sammy davis, jr "hey man" thing with his hands to zach as he was finishing up. tom just walked away hah. the last to leave is jim and he did his usual guitar echo thing and flinged a water bottle in the pit. gosh darn it was off the hizzy haha. in the end jim was saying something like "if u want to send ur demo tapes please give it to this guy(named some dude). don't throw it at the band" or something like that. i think maybe people at the pit was throwing demos at the band. I'm not for sure cuz i had a really crappy seat. all the way back left. we stood up near the railing when they came out but the guard kept telling us to sit down. we cheered on the top of our lungs and had such a great time. i hope the pics i took comes out. it was worth driving the 3 hours and getting lost for 1 hr in the ghetto. set list was like this: praise, bleed, dont dont, get it faster, authority, blister, no sensitivity, lucky denver mint, sweetness, ended w/the middle Y100 Festival at Camden, NJ

07/25/02 Rueben's Accomplice was good. desaparacidos was real good. i got thier cd and it rocks.

The promise ring rocked out! Davey was funny as hell. I think the funniest thing he said was when he menitoned how they saw jimmy grew up "when they were wittle babies" haha. Thier new songs rocked live, which makes me irked that I dind't get to see em the last time they were in nyc a few months ago. Dam school! It was groovy to hear everywhere in denver and picture postcard oldies too.

jimmy eat world. ah. three words that bring a big ole smile to my face. the following mite not be in exact order but its they began with: a praise chours, bleed american, new asethitc,if u dont dont, for me this is heaven, sunday, call it in the air..holla!evil, lucky denver mint, just watch the fireworks....yummy in my ear drummy, authority song, no sensitivity w/the f-bomb as usual haha. and it goes well with the song not just b/c its a curse, no sensitivity w/the f-bomb as usual haha, middle, encore: MY SUNDOWN which was a pleaseant surprise with a GREAT guitar schtick in the end, goodbye sky harbor sweetness

my friend took pix so we'll seee how that comes out

08/27/02 Went to get tix to see the band at Last Call w/Carson Daly. It was quite interesting. They peformed sweetness twice because of a mishap with the bass on the first try. Pretty groovy. Met Cindy again with Kris, the moderator for thier message board, Leah with Chris, the guy who does simplediscourse.com.

08/28/02 Combine a great cause with music and you have LIFEBEAT. It's a great cause and Jimmy Eat World took part in it the last minute. got there sorta early in da front left and sadly the huge amps were there also which is causing early titinitis. we shoulda brought ear plugs, i didnt realize it could be so loud. i usually could take the amps. pete yorn was the 2nd act. he performed acousticly with zach on da skins. i enjoyed most of petes performance, it was good. better than the last time i saw him. then came the band that almost everyone in the crowd was waitin for: jimmy eat world. freak the hives. not everyone in "new york loves the hives." jimmy shoulda went on last since all the hives did was prance around and yappin to waste time. they were muically aite, but by that time my ear drums were shot. so yea jimmy shoulda headlined. the set list can be provided by ms. killa queen cuz she got the setlist from henry the set was a good mix even tho they didnt play no sensitivity. its always fun to watch jim on stage w/his hippidy hop antics lettin everyone feel da music. tom rocked out in his own cool way. his voice was bangin. they rock out live so much. big props im glad they're in nyc, i didnt think they would come back until they're next album. its a good thang to end the summer wit.

"I am why you bring me here tear these cloths down when we fight. It’s over--they found me--they beat me. I can’t believe they knew it--we blew it--our fortunes have been retrieved--by humans--who knew me--they used me--to get what’s mine. They’ll never replace me. I’ll be back. I want revenge." - robot factory, static prevails

"It happened too fast to make sense of it. To make it last. Not asking of me anything saying nothing about what it means, without anybody telling me how I should feel, lead my skeptic sight." - table for glasses, clairity

"Are you gonna live your life wonderin?standing in the back lookin?around? Are you gonna waste your time thinkin' how you’ve grown up or how you missed out? Things are never gonna be the way you want. Where's it gonna get you acting serious?" - a praise chorus, bleed american

"I can see the light leading away from you. Let’s disappear, we’ll take a trip of no return to outer space. And swim in pools which keep us warm, cleaned off the sand from off your feet. We’ll dance off time to the songs we’ve never liked. And sing off key thinking it sounds all right." - episode iv, static prevails

"Hey, don't write yourself off yet. It's only in your head you feel left out or looked down on. Just try your best, try everything you can. And don't you worry what they tell themselves when you're away. It just takes some time, little girl you're in the middle, it'll up the ride. Everything will be just fine, everything will be allright. Hey, you know they're all the same. You know you're doing better on your own, so don't buy in. Live right now. Yeah, just be yourself. It doesn't matter if it's good enough for someone else." - the middle, bleed american

"There's no one in town I know. You gave us some place to go. I never said thank you for that. I thought I might get one more chance. What would you think of me now, so lucky, so strong, so proud? "I'm through talking. It's the strangest thing, I feel safe when I'm lonely. Take it easy. Don't you get it? It's just an expression. Would you raise your voice every time a little dirt gets under? Cry if you want. It's the return of no sensitivity. You don't have to scream to say something that you honestly mean. The world won't turn without you and I am amazed you're standing still. Your problems, they aren't problems be glad they never will. I'm taking my kisses back. I want my kisses back from you. When you hear those footsteps calling. It's O.K. if you don't answer. Isn't it obvious? I thought it was obvious." no sensitivity, split w/jebadiah

Haven’t you got any passion at all? We’re the same, human rain. My right to take a pee, it’s not the way it used to be. Seen mine, seen yours. What’s wrong? It’s not the way it used to be. What’s my punishment going to be? Decapitation of my trick? It’s always the same." -indecent exposure, early old old school jew
