Our Recommendations
Visit Historic Philadelphia Must-Sees: Independence Hall, Betsy Ross House, Liberty Bell, Constitution Center, Elfreth's Alley ... Do a tour or walk it yourself. There are even tours recommended by celebrities like Donovan McNabb, Oprah Winfrey, Kevin Bacon, and Bill Cosby!
Be Like Rocky: Run up the Art Museum steps (and stay for the art), visit the Italian Market (running optional)
Eat an authentic Cheese Steak! Pat's and Geno's are the famous ones. Some say Jim's on South Street serves the best. Make sure you know how to order correctly! First specify your cheese: american, provolone, or cheese whiz (referred to as "wiz". Next specify whether you want onions or not by saying with (wit) or without (wit-out). Example: "American without". Believe it or not, "Wiz wit" is how you would order a true Philly Cheese Steak.
Visit Penn's Landing on the Delaware River Waterfront. Home to restaurants, entertainment, and the Independence Seaport Museum. Head across the river to the Adventure Aquarium in Camden.
Explore historic and "urban chic" Old City or shop in the Rittenhouse Square neighborhood
Shop, Dine, & Visit Galleries in Manayunk. Great nightlife too
South Street. Gophila.com says it best: "Here you’ll find a pulsating strip of more than 300 funky shops, eateries, cafes, book shops and record stores and people watching."
Take in a Phillies Game at Citizens Bank Park: They play Houston on the 5th
Visit Valley Forge or Washington Crossing to experience some Revolutionary War history
Visit New Hope in Bucks County for great dining, shopping (antiques, funky shops), art, and nightlife
Head to the Jersey Shore for some great beaches and Atlantic City (we recommend the Borgata)
Experience the Great Outdoors: In Philly - Fairmount Park, the biggest landscaped park in the country, with biking & hiking trails along the Schuylkill River and the famous Boathouse Row; The Philadelphia Zoo, the oldest zoo in the country. In Bucks County: Core Creek Park and Tyler State Park offer hiking, boating, fishing, picnicking, and Frisbee Golf (Tyler only)
Shop in America's Second Biggest Mall: King of Prussia Mall
Or Shop the Outlets: Franklin Mills, a huge outlet mall not too far from the wedding location
Another Great Shopping & Eating Location: Peddler's Village, an 18th century shopping complex in Lahaska.
