Highlights of the 2000 - 2001 9th Courtenay Glenview Year: In February of 2001, the kids of the 9th Courtenay Glenview Cub pack had a great weekend at Holderville for our annual Winter Camp. The pack enjoyed a great weekend of fun, activities, and badgework. The pack enjoyed a real adventure in the snow... but remember for the next time (Stephen) - it's not nice to hide your Akela's boot in the snow! :) This weekend provided the pack to learn about astrology and winter camping survival, while they enjoyed campfire activities, games, and various other activities. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In April of 2001, the kids of the 9th Courtenay Glenview Cub pack began to prepare for the annual districk Kub Kar Rally. The preliminary races held at the pack headquarters saw the "Pink Panther" - AKA Jennifer take first place. Second place went to ...., and third place and best design went to Stephen. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In April of 2001, the kids of the 9th Courtenay Glenview Cub pack participated in the annual district Kub Kar Rally. It was fierce comptition between Glenview and 30th Courtenay St. Joachims, who wanted to keep that first place trophy for another year... but Stephen of Glenview captured the trophy. St. Joachims did take second place, but Jennifer of Glenview picked up third aswell. Best overall design went to St. Joachims. -------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In June of 2001, the kids of the 9th Courtenay Glenview Cub pack joined with the other Courtenay district packs, to be part of the fun and activities of the annual District Camp at Rockwook Park. The theme of this years camp was a western theme, where our Beaver Colony and Cub Pack dresses in white t-shirts and straw hats. The Glenview scouts wore their best indian costumes to represent the district scouts. This was a three day camp that provided the pack of a weekend of tenting, swimming, hiking, playing, and activities such as participating in the duct tape competition (which was won by the Glenview Beaver Colony with their teepee display and St. Joachims Cub pack with their giant 10 foot teepee). The district colonies, packs, and scouts enjoyed a district campfire which included songs and entertainment from all groups. Glenview cubs performed a skit whereby 4 of the cubs wore a huge wolf costume that the pack had made out of duct tape and cardboard. Various cubs would tell the wolf it had bad breath, then the cubs would fall over. The wolf then went to ... and when she said hello to the wolf, the wolf replied "you have bad breath" and the wolf fell over. The pack put a lot of effort into the costume and skit, and they did a great job! And how could we forget the "great water fight of 2001" between Glenview and St. Joachims??!! I think that was a tie... even though we got them good! :) |
