SATURDAY, AUGUST 28, 2004 - 5:00 p.m.

HYDE MEMORIAL STATE PARK ~ SANTA FE, NEW MEXICO

We are providing transportation to and from the wedding on Saturday.  The wine and sangria will be flowing freely that evening, and the wedding site at Hyde Memorial State Park is a long way from town along a winding mountain road.  We therefore ask everyone to take advantage of the transportation we've arranged.  A small fleet of vans will pick everyone up in front of the Hotel St. Francis (210 Don Gaspar Ave.) precisely at 4:00 PM.  The ceremony begins at 5:00 PM sharp, so PLEASE DON'T BE LATE for the 4:00 PM pick-up.  Once we're up at the wedding site, vans will be available to take people back into town beginning at 8:00 PM until the park closes at 11:00 PM.  And once we're back in town we'll take the party to a local nightclub or watering hole...

What is the weather going to be like?  *While the temperature should be in the 70s - 80s and dry during the day, plan on bringing a light sweater or jacket to the wedding because it  cools down quite a bit in the evenings.

We are having an informal dinner and get-together on the night before the wedding (Friday, August 27th) at 6:30 P.M. at the Estancia Primera clubhouse.  Printable directions are here.

We hope that you'll join us in this opportunity to see old friends, meet new ones, and get acquainted with all of the people who've traveled to Santa Fe to celebrate with us.

Expect local New Mexican cuisine, margaritas, and such.

Getting There

Santa Fe is located in Northern New Mexico an hour's drive North of Albuquerque, the state's largest city and major air gateway. Albuquerque's airport (a/k/a the Albuquerque International Sunport) is serviced by all of the major U.S. airlines.  Southwest Airlines tends to have very reasonable fares, especially when you book early.  WE ENCOURAGE YOU TO BOOK YOUR FLIGHTS EARLY!!!

Rental cars are available at the Albuquerque airport.  In addition,  several shuttle services   provide transportation 7 to 10 times daily between the Albuquerque airport and downtown Santa Fe hotels, including the Hotel Saint Francis.

Once in town, getting around is easy.  Downtown Santa Fe is compact and most conveniently traveled on foot.  The Hotel St. Francis is located right in the heart of Downtown and will provide parking for rental cars at a modest fee.   We will arrange a shuttle bus to transport guests from the hotel to the wedding and back.

What to See & Do

The New York Times has a great travel guide to Santa Fe, which includes an update on local goings-on published over the summer.

Here are a couple of links to New Mexico's Dept. of Tourism  and Dept. of Cultural Affairs  to help get you oriented.

Take a walking tour  of downtown Santa Fe, and stop in at Ohori's Coffe Tea and Chocolate on Old Santa Fe Trail for some of the best espresso drinks and biscotti in town.

Explore Santa Fe's  Museums and Galleries.

Stroll through Jackalope, a terrific indoor/outdoor market.

Visit the very special  Santa Fe Opera  (book your tix early).

Check out the  Best of Santa Fe  (register for free), for food and shopping recommendations.  [ Our picks:  Best New Mexican fare:  Guadalupe Cafe, Tomasita's, The Shed/La Choza;  for a romantic splurge:  Geronimo, Inn of the Anasazi, Cafe Pasqual's. ]

Indulge in one of Santa Fe's world-renound spas.

Choose from among some local favorites .

Wedding Registry

Our Honeymoon Fund  - We're trying to scrape together enough money to go to Thailand in November (after the rainy season)-- and we'd love for you to help!  With a bit of luck, mortgage payments and the pitter-patter of little feet won't be too far off in our future, so we figure that this is the best opportunity for an adventure such as this.

Or, surf on over to the following sites, where we are registered for more traditional fare:
Crate and Barrel
Sur la Table

Finally, we would be delighted if you would prefer to make a charitable contribution to a cause that is dear to us.  Godparents Association (GA)  helps to educate and protect young Ugandan women who are at risk of undergoing female genital mutilation.  Kim came into contact with GA when she represented a Ugandan woman and her young daughter who were seeking asylum based on their fear of being forced to undergo this dangerous procedure.  Kim succeeded -- with the help and expertise of GA's founder, Rebecca Salonen -- and her clients are now living safely in the United States.
