Look Back and ForwardHi everyone,
I hope everyone has had a great summer. But it is time to start looking ahead to the new school year soon upon us. Last year was a successful year and it is time to begin thinking about the upcoming year.
I just want all of the parents to know what the Parents' Club membership money provided our sons last year. The Parents' Club was able to provide a breakfast during Homecoming, thanks to Jim Berry and the FIJI Alumni for providing the food for that. The Monday night before first semester finals we provided pizza, pop/water and snacks out of the Parents' Club funds.
In February, we provided a nice dinner, DJ and prizes for about 100 students. Jim Berry once again provided the food for us so that didn't come out of the Parents' Club fund. We had so many parents that volunteered to help us with food, snacks, prizes and money. Without those parents the Valentine Party would not have been such a success. My appreciation goes to each of you that helped us out. Every student received a prize during the evening. We try to use all the funds for our boys and provide them with at least one major event during the year.
The last thing we provided for the boys was pizza, snacks and pop/water again before their finals this spring.
Be sure to ask your sons about the things that the Parents' Club does for them during the year. So, if you did not join the Parents' Club this year, I hope that you will next year. Without the Parents' Club membership money and everyone's assistance, we would not be able to do these things for our sons.
Speaking of next year, I am looking for someone whose son will be a FIJI for two or three more years to take over the Parents' Club. Mary Landers and I have held our positions for the past two years and it's time to move on and let someone else come in and take over. We both will be glad to help you through the next year, but then our sons will graduate. Please give me a call or email me ASAP if you are interested. It is important that we have the new co-chairs in place before school begins next fall. If there are several of you that might be interested in taking this on, it would be worth your time. Our sons love having us involved in their fraternity. Please help us keep the Parents' Club active!
