Poems & Art
Of the dragon's heart

Currently, I am trying to put a book together entitled
"Fate of a Sailing Poet ". It is a collaboration of the poems, art, & songs, of my life,
For life's understanding.

Every one of these poems I have written about my life
in the past five to ten years. They reflect the pain, heartache, loves & loves~lost,
I have had to endure. The hand drawn illustrations hidden behind the picture links below the poems
tell the tale of the poem as if it were worth a thousand words.
I hope these poems as well as these pictures of mine help you reflect on yourself
better as well as the ways you may see others. When finished, please vote & tell a friend
of yours of my page. Please tell me your likes & dis~likes, & favorites.
Feel free to sign my guestbook &/or e~mail me & also place your lair on my Middle-Earth Map.

Please ask permission before using my poems for things you wish.

All Poems, Songs, & Drawings are under Copyright (c)2007
Thankyou Friends.

American Destiny

For the Flag of our U.S. Soldier
May they never be forgotten in our hearts

Old, worn, tattered, & torn,
Through the years this old rag clothe flies.
Flown in battles & through many wars
Showing the spirit just will not die.
It may be holed, torched, & it may be frayed,
But "We the People" will always be brave
Never will we stray
Fighting for freedom 'till the grave.
For we have a heart that can never die
Born from the ashes do we stride
With life
Remembering those many who have died for
& Even more who have seen
That only by winds' fated hand may "Ye Old Glory"
~~Come to defeat.~~

& With many fallen tears does this flag still fly free--
On a prayer of an eagles wing--
Being born from the ashes beneath--
As it flies through the clouds, sea to sea.

A Blown Kiss

To a distant love

Sending you a kiss through the clouds
From the waves in the distant blue mist
Underneath a patchwork of white & brown
With I set adrift.

Everyday I have sent a kiss to thee
Through the clouds & to your sweet lips
From my place on the raging blue sea
On my raft of thought just thinking of that kiss.

Everyday this sailing poet has done this
Always wondering if they were lost among the winds
Ending up going to the wrong person
But hoping, just hoping, to my love it was sent.

A few days after, I hear from a pigeon's message
That she had received my kiss just a day ago
Loving the kiss to her I sent
Just a few days before.

Everyday will I do this, send a kiss to thee
'Till time comes to a standstill with the wind to a cease
& My heart to the end
When time finally gives in & so dies.

Crimson Tide

The heavens above

In the distance of a crimson heaven
A sole bird flies to nowhere over a sea of silence
From an Isl. covering the horizon with a blindfold
Leaving a ribbon of black as wind's temper grows cold.
Now fading away into the mist the dusk disappears,
As stars then shine from the East.
With the day as goes the Sun,
The wind so departs with a last breath
As the sole bird flies on
Into the night with the day gone.
So I say then a final good day to the crimson tide in the sky,
Washing this day away.

. . . on the wing of this bird do I ride into the tide. .

Day of a Poet

For life & love

I say, let petals meet with blades of green
Falling one by one by one to below
Through the days of old & the of yet to be.

Oh so delicate they are as I see them amongst the brisk winds
Floating effortlessly without a care
& Landing in a pond nearby as if to be destined there.

While swimming in this bed of blue of the loveliest glow
One petal is swept away by winds' strong arm this day
To dance among the clouds in the dew of an early morn'.

The petal comes to a rest in a field oh so wide,
As the wind let's it free.
Now it may rest to show its beauty & grace, glamour & poise,
To the blade of green it lays beside.

. . . & now the story begins anew . . .

Devil Sea

For the mariner

In tradition & history & in the fabled words of time
I travel through the expanse of an ocean gone wild
Mothering my life as the Devil incarnate in mind,
Doing its brusque nurturing with its many hands
Always tossing me about in her cold cradle of tin.

Born of a breed, like others before me who have known this life
Not ever showing fear in the eyes we have of our mother sea.
I, as with my fellows, have aged wiser in this time where we may die
Coming to thank her for her honesty & the unruly brutality
Even though we may fear her still.

This fear is different, yet true to the heart of being
As an act of reverence to the power of the sea.
She gave me life & she raised me, to who I am this day,
Surviving solely on my instinct & passion for which I was taught to be
Molding my thoughts with her own hands from a cold piece of clay
--Creating the mariner who I am now.

I now thank my mother sea with a long thought
For the dreams she has given me
& For the freedom I now possess.

The Forlorn

Sadness

Eternally forsaken & scorned in this tempest life
Apparently judged by this world I have come to hate
With a wrongful injustice bestowed upon I,
Until my body dies to then meet my souls tragic fate.
But how this solitary confinement can change a man
As forever loneliness I have spent,
Being a sentence far worse than death can
Cast down to a hell where I have been (All these long years).
It shaped my thoughts by turning me bitter to this cruel society
While never knowing the reasons of my sentencing
& Standing confused in my lonely tempest
Arising a fear of giving up on my wishful prophecy
For which I am losing strength to fight for much longer;
Forever reminded of this Earth that is my tormentor.

Golden Thunder

Awe of nature

Opting to glance in the shadows of the hills below,
Waves of brown, gold, & maize unfurl.
Crashing throughout the valley & everything in sight,
I begin to awe at this awesome might.
Thunderclaps echo from over there
Thrashing on my eardrums, demanding my mind to scare.
Pouring into this valley with a ferocious speed,
A sea of black comes forth like never before have I seen.
I stand paralyzed on the hilltop staring at it with revere
As the wave surges close to me.
& The waves come to a calm, as do I, in this golden prairie sea,
Not even a yard away,
Leaving nothing behind it not even a simple blade of green.
For this is the reason I will always respect thee.

Granite Eyes
Whispers of Darkness

To the Lonely & Alone

I stare at the world with open eyes of granite & a heart of stone
Seeing it hard to forgive this earth for imprisoning me,
Leaving me so alone.
I'm now sitting in the corner confused with a tear
& Staring into the darkness as whispers from somewhere
Echoes through the room
Listening to them tell me the ways to escape these bars,
To move from my miserable gloom.
So I do as the whispers of darkness have told me:
To tear down these stone walls & iron boundaries with my bare hands
Making my life free & letting my heart beat
As it tries to let out the pain of this tired old man.
My heart of stone again beats for the first time in forever
Unable to remember the last day when it was alive,
When the bars holding me down splintered
Letting me escape my prison & this life-long lie.
These cold eyes then turned soft for the eyes of another
As my granite eyes see for the first time
Looking into the eyes of the lover, looking back at him.

Granite~Eyes, Part II
I Awaken

To the newly loved

As if captivating my mind & body & soul,
Thoughts & dreams soften these open granite eyes of stone
Remembering a time when life was hopeless & frigid
With no love in the distance.
They were so uncertain & uncaring before today
Feeling all-alone in my own prison until this girl came from astray.
She looked inside me where no one has been or even allowed to see,
Seeing things I had forgotten in me & some cherished memories.
Using the comfort of her heartfelt touch to make me remember
& To know how to love & care again & so this do I do for her.
With her everlasting thoughts even through the days of sad & hollow,
These green eyes of mine could never again turn to granite
or have a heart of stone;
For because of her, I know I am loved & will never again be alone.

For the alone & lonely, finally awakening in their hearts
To live their lives.

Heart

Only One Word

One word alone seems so insignificant
Without others to give meaning
Of the hidden reasons it holds secret
From the eye of the unknowing,
Unable to see its instrument of haiku
With its riddle within a riddle of truth
Allowing the one eye that can see
The real meaning of that few letter story
& Its substantial thought it creates
Leaving this everlasting moment
You will remember - Always.

Imagine

In a dream

Waking to a dream only to imagine reality.
Rain begins to fall, going pitter-patter through a sky blanketed in gray
As I rise from my pillow saying to the Sun a solemn "good day".
With no one to talk to but my own shadow,
Though never talking back as if in some sort of mime show.
Then I glance at the timepiece on the wall
For a brief second, for no reason at all.
It read half past midday to my suprise,
As if I slept to times end & to my own demise.
"No", that cannot happen, I say with a deep sigh;
"'Cause life is only a dream as time passes you by".

Lost

Who?

Who am I? I ask myself with much disarray
Not knowing anymore this simple answer
Somehow forgetting the question along the way.

I am lost in my time of antiquity
As love for my self-being has vanished
Failing the life I lack & losing me.

Giving up everything I was for the one I loved
For it to only end so very abruptly
With tragedy as the consequence upfront.

These cherished memories are all but shattered
Unable to grasp any with all of my might
Which pains me – missing them utterly so.

In sense, I have forgotten who I am anymore
Left confused with life, & feeling unwholesome
Losing the path I’ve been destined for.

Message of a Petal

The chain of love

On this day in this field of destiny
A red rose & a sunflower grow together in time
As fate collides with life's dreams
Allowing them to intertwine.
They grow together with a tighter embrace everyday
Slowly dropping petals as they fall about their stems
Telling each other: "I love you", in a way
& Then lying on the ground so their message is sent.
The message of the petals tell a tale of love & forever
Showing the true love the two flowers have for each other.
This leaves a thought to dream of & to remain,
To intertwine & to cherish, as this story says;
Believing in a day when dreams, love, & my life may be one & the same.

My Instrument

Which is more powerful, the pen or the sword?
For both are instruments of the mind
That can, in many ways, maim & torture
Even the man who is wise behind it.

The sword is the obvious, for it is sharp & elegant,
A dangerous tool for any man to use
With just one false move of an unskilled hand
Would mean misery to the clueless.

Yet, then there is the pen, so fine & delicate,
Can change a life with every swift stroke made
As it writes words with the hand of a poet
Either crushing or creating the heart this day.

Both the pen & sword can be used by skilled hands
& Both can cause pain of the heart.
Though the pen, with its skill, can also heal the man
By crafting within him, its visions of new thought.

Now Unbroken

A solved life

Imagining a day when the puzzle of my life can be complete
Always searching the sands of this Earth for my dream (Never finding it),
Which is hidden amongst the society of so many.
Hiding in all these people is this lost piece of me;
A woman that is also incomplete as the same as I,
Constantly searching for her piece so she too can heal
her painfully hard life.
This day has been wondrous for both
For both lost pieces have been found,
No longer having to brave the perilous life of society
& The cruelty of heartache, but to be happy & sound.
Finally able to spend eternity & a day in each others eyes
Completing the puzzles of our souls,
With the long lost piece that I've been searching for
In you, & your lost piece is in I.

A Portal to the Eye

Have you ever seen waves the color of amber
As they sweep across a prairie sea
With no instruction intended, but for
The eyes to notice their beauty?

& The twinkling bright after the dawning sun goes
With a shining-star-downed, oh how it paints the sky
To the horizon where it is seen no more;
Behind it, leaving a stretch of white fire.

& Seeing the wet sapphire-blue as it traverses
To & fro, always a shimmering jewel with
Small-miracles springing 'tween crests. Rainbows--
Litter my sight, letting the sapphire-blue display its wonder.

Like a true human heart that is boundless in love,
So are the workings of nature; its prairie, its night sky,
The ample jewel-of-blue, the life.
How so beauteous is it all, does it always make me sigh,
--seeing all of it around me, in you, your eyes.

A Sacrifice

Only to live

The life of a poet is one of fate & tragedy
Unknowing what will happen tomorrow
With loves lost & so many consequences
Living a story of happiness & sorrow;
Surviving on the sea of sacrifice
(& lonliness).
Knelt on a knee with the head bowed
Succumbing to & accepting of a life's picture
He listens to a silent wind whisper as the doves cry
With eyes closed to let the mind's eye see
Dreaming a thought, pondering even, & sighs.
For this poet knows well the story that he writes
For a tale of tragedy is the story of his life.

Scar of Heart
Healing Hands

Forgiveness

Fading away into the mist of memories
Seemingly forever gone & forgotten,
To an abyssal of unwanted thoughts & dreams
Where they lye with time until they can be forgiven.
The thoughts that hurt the most are the scars of heart
Sometimes forever lost in the mind
Leaving them to slowly heal the pain & hurt
& Being held by the hands of Father Time.
But some of these memories will be forgiven & cannot be lost
When I hear the words of the Father in my ear
Saying they have been given his fateful touch.
I then sit under this dimming day - going night
Dwelling on my life's past as well as of my cherished loves
Now knowing the scars have healed long ago in my mind,
I stand relieved.

Sea~Shadow

Of the subconscience

From shadows of sunlight on misty sea
Underneath a sky dimming with light, blue to pink.
They drift across my face with a mind of bewilderment
Touching my cheek with its fingertips.
It sends sensations of cold running through my body,
As it tries to envelop my fate
Giving me memories of long ago forgotten
& Opening my eyes to see their reason & basis.
I begin to know & understand these unknown shadows
Of the life I live in these days of now
While I stare at the stars from the ground I lye,
As I wake to feel the warm sunlight of morn'
& Not the chill in the shadows of light.

Stubborn "I"

For the dedicated dreamer, for "I"

My dreams seem they are always whisked away by the tide
Every time a new one becomes a part of "I".
"I" try as "I" may to believe in fate & wait for them to truly be.
Yet, for some unknown reason they still wash away
Making these dreams even harder to achieve.
Though hard, "I" do believe in fate & "I" have learned my patience well,
Surviving through these hard years of a broken heart & shattered dreams
With undeniable passions; yet, "I" am still beguiled.
But "I" press on, as my stubborn ways have taught me
By keeping this mind focused on these sought after dreams
As "I" chase them through time as dreamers often do,
Finding out the hard ways of life:
That dreams do change with the tide & so "I" do too.

Timescape

A perspective on life

The keeper of the hourglass is sifting through the sands of time
Looking through small windows & perceiving the world through this mind,
Seeing memories of long-ago forgotten, I do reminisce
& Those days forever gone that I will always miss.
He sees my thoughts & guides my dreams
& He knows I will be waiting for that day to thee,
For that one & that feeling before time away is gone.
I will never know when that day will become present
{for he will never tell},
Just having a hand dealt to me & having it to accept.
As I walk through the dunes in the sands of time,
I watch the sundown with awe as I realize another day has gone by.

Torn

A Question?

"Why do the decisions of some kinds have to weigh so heavy?"
I have asked this all my life, with no answers ever coming to me.
It rolls through my thoughts with a passion,
Not letting me forget it in my mind,
Just confusing my heart & soul on which road to take
& Trying desperately not to take both at the same time.
This would only make matters worse if I did so & tear me in two
Leaving a lost mind & a broken shell behind
As these green eyes watch the heart die & then see it turn blue.
This question has pondered over me forever & does so today
With still no answer wandering in my thoughts as I try to sleep,
Leaving me to answer anyway, not wanting to or even satisfied.
Finally deciding as I must, choosing the love of one over another,
For only reasons of a dream of a future,
& While I stare at the writing on this paper all confused as I sigh.

Unknown

The Price Paid

Honor the Soldier's tears for he has died many times
Underneath a cold stone in the field of Arlingon,
In a meadow of where only the brave may lye,
Where silent words speak of their acts-of-honor.

Remember the Soldier's tears, for he has cried tonight
Knowing he may never return to his homestead
While a plague of lead is aimed between his whites,
As he tries to not become one of his fellow dead.

Pray for this Soldier's tears, for his name has become lost.
Lost in the memory of wars retched sins
Though never forgotten are his deeds so valiant
Made on that fateful morn' of his sacrifices.

Honor this Soldier's tears, for he has died for his duty.
For he is the Unknown Soldier living at Arlington
Leaving a remembrance with us in his solemn story
& For this we honor him with one knee on his tomb.

My Valentine

For my love

Very much in love with you I am
Always searching my world for your wondrous kiss
Leaving my heart in care of you
Every single time you kiss my lips.
Nine thousand moments a day do I say, "I love you my dear"
Ten thousand maybe. I cannot be certain
I only know that I'll love you till the end of time
Never will my heart let you go, for you are my one & my life
Every year ending with you, my Valentine, in love.

A White Rose

Forever love

Glistening under a newborn star on this rainbowed horizon,
A lonely white rose I see brings memories of a girl
Of a time from sometime back when.
Blossoming a bloom for all to see
& Covered in a morning mist looking oh so lovely,
It begins to drop petals one by one by two, as I do see,
I wonder then if it's a sign; as I sigh,
I love you not or I love thee.
Never will I know, neither then nor now,
For fate can only tell the story of this white rose of the morning dew;
For that is the only way that love may ever be true.

. . . A rose is to a rose as I always say during the close
To my serenade . . .
