The hulking forward showed signs of the dominant offensive player he would become in Vancouver while with the Islanders. He notched a goal and assist in his first NHL game and finished his rookie season with 39 points in 76 games. In the 2001-02 season with the Canucks, Bertuzzi exploded for 85 points off 36 goals and 49 assists.
