The front page of the February 22, 2006 Maui News featured an article by Harry Eagar on Lee Altenberg's talk on the dryland forest remnant on the Wailea 670 site. This article inspired an editorial on February 24.
The February 19, 2006 Maui News had
a picture of arborist Arlene Tau pruning the naio tree in the Kahului
Public Library courtyard. NHPS member Eda Kinnear has been
tending the courtyard and a native planting at the door for many years,
and is passing the torch to other members.
