Abortion

God's take on ABORTION
by Ruth

    Key Passages:
  1. Psalm 139:13-16
  2. Luke 1: 39-44
  3. Isaiah 44:2
  4. Isaiah 44:24
  5. Isaiah 49:1
  6. Jeremiah 1:5

"For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother's womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made;" ~Psalm 139:13-14a

Abortion has become a huge area of conflicts today. My stand on abortion?? I think abortion is wrong. I believe that no matter the circumstances, God creates no accidents.

Many girls believe that a child in the womb is only tissue. That is absolutely wrong. Check out the passages listed above. God knit you together in your mother's womb. Meaning that unborn babies are works of God.

What is the difference between a baby outside the womb and a baby inside? Either way, they still are human beings and people. Today, if an infant is killed outside the womb, it's considered murder. However, if killed within, it's considered a woman's privacy. Since when is it a woman's private and personal decision if she wants to kill her child?!

Before you even know you're pregnant, your baby's heart begins to beat. At six weeks brain waves are measurable and your baby moves and responds to touch. At eight weeks she is perfectly developed, with fingers and toes, even her own set of fingerprints. By ten weeks she can squint, swallow and suck her thumb. If you tickled her nose she would move her head away. By eleven to 12 weeks all body systems are present and working.

It's ridiculous! Let's take a look at some of the arguments of pro-choice advocates:

  • "It's a woman's privacy what she wants to do with her body."
Why are drugs and prostitution illegalized when abortion isn't? If you can organize abortion as 'a woman's right with her body,' then why can they do drugs and prostitute themselves under the declaration of 'a woman's right to her body?'
  • "If a girl was raped and it resulted in pregnancy, shouldn't it be fair to let her get an abortion?"
The fact is that About 15,000 abortions each year are attributed to rape and incest - representing 1% of all abortions. (Guttmacher statistics from 'Facts in Brief,' 1995). Considering this, I argue my point: why should the innocent party of the crime be punished? Added to that, how does the abortion of this innocent child make up for what was lost in the rape? Will it make anyone feel any better?
  • "Outlaw abortion, and more children will bear children. Forty percent of 14-year-old girls will become pregnant before they turn 20. This could happen to your daughter or someone else close to you. Here are the critical questions: Should the penalty for lack of knowledge or even for a moment's carelessness be enforced pregnancy and childrearing? Or dangerous illegal abortion?"
Whoever said that the girl should have to raise the baby? Adoption is always an option. A moment's carelesness?! A moment's carelesness?! A man could have a moment's carelesness and kill another man in a moment of rage. This doesn't pardon his penalty simply because 'he did not know it was wrong.' The same applies to a teenaged girl. A moment's carelesness could result in a child. It doesn't mean that you have to kill it!

..Just something to think about. And no apologies for this.

A man once asked God, "God, why didn't you send us a man who could cure AIDS or Cancer?"
And God answered, "I did, but you killed him."
