image help

putting images/pictures/graphics on your page is probably the most important (and maybe even difficult) thing to know/learn to make a good webpage. graphics catch the visitors eye and makes them want to keep looking at your page.

some stuff to read:
what this page is about is the correct way to put an image on your page. most people just "link" the image on there page. doing that makes both your page load slower and the person you took the image from slower. so this is the best way. and if you have expage, you cannot use these steps. you should first get a free page at angelfire. then you can use the images you uploaded at angelfire to use on your expage.

theres three steps to getting a image on your page
1 - downloading
2 - uploading
3 - html codes

downloading an image

you've found the perfect image that you want on your page. your first step, is to download it. for windows, put your cursor (arrow pointer thingy) over the image, and right click it. then choose "save image as". its good to save it in "c" drive. and you can type the name you want for it. for mac, im not too sure, but i think you hold alt and click. and thats it.

uploading an image

ok so, you've got the image downloaded. login to your website/file manager. if your using angelfire or geocities, on the buttom of the file manager, is something called "upload" or "easy upload". and there should be a browse button next to it. if it doesnt, your browser doesnt support uploading, so try to find a browser on your computer that does.
click browse, and find where you downloaded the image. then double-click it when you found it. lastly, click the "upload" or hit "enter" on your keyboard. if you uploaded correctly, you should see the image name in your website/file manager.

putting the correct html code on

now go into your website editor. now to put the image on your page, use this html code:

if you are using angelfire, you might need to use this code:

and you should have the image on your page!

it isnt on my page!!!
¤ make sure the code is on correctly
¤ try uploading the image again
¤ try downloading AND uploading the image again
¤ put little " " around the image name like: "name-of-image.gif"
