Rules
Rules list
- Rule #1: What we say, goes. You can complain about injust rulings and stuff, but don't expect it to happen unless we agree. If you complain too much, you're out.
- Training: Guess how this works. You can gravity spar (more intense than self-training; don't overdo it) or you can self-train. You can train on Earth up to 500X gravity, you can train on Namek up to 1000X gravity, or you can train on Freeza up to 10,000X gravity (but you better be really strong for that; we're talking way above 1,000,000 PL). You can also buy gravity enhancers for your ships (500X gravity max for first one; you can buy upgrades). As always, make sure you know what you're doing and don't overtrain. Otherwise you get hurt, and if we decide you were really stupid and went way above where you should be, you die. Default training time=One week (if you don't send a training time, you get one week)
- Fights: You can sneak attack or go head-to-head. You only get 2 sneaks per month (remember that, o ye who would go for cheap kills), and we track 'em. To go head-to-head, here's what you do: 1)Issue a formal challenge to your competitor, whether on the message board or through e-mail. 2) Both of you e-mail us and tell us about the challenge. 3) We e-mail both of you back to confirm. 4) You send us fights, as dramatic and gory as you can get, and we pick the best. NOTES ON HEAD-TO-HEAD: 1) Gory doesn't mean carnage for its own sake; it should fit in with the rest of the fight. 2) Good stories may get extra boosts in PL, credits, etc.
- Deaths: If you die, you go to the Next Dimension, where you can either wait 2 weeks to come back through Kami's good graces, or you can go to King Kai's to learn Spirit Bomb or Kaioken (your choice), as well as get a generous boost in PL. You'll spend 2 weeks on Snake Way going, 4 weeks training, and 2 weeks coming back. If for some reason you fall off of Snake Way or King Kai's planetoid, you go to HFIL. There you can learn 2X Speed (Red Ogre) or 2X Strength (Blue Ogre) as well as the large boost in PL (you also get a Yema Fruit, which raises your PL an additional 10,000). It takes 3 weeks to train with the Ogres and 1 week to come back. If you already know all the attacks you can learn in the Next Dimension, you can also go to HFIL or King Kai's to get upgrades (see upgrades section). NEW RULE (11/08/99): You can pay King Yema to go to planets of your choice, based on how your character's been behaving in the rpg (if you are a sadistic bastard, it'll cost a bundle to go to Frieza if you were originally on Earth). If you don't want to pay, you'll go to whatever planet you died on. The default pay is 10 credits.
- Quests: There are the regular 3 quests, plus another: 1) Power (build your PL and collect monster heads), which has three levels--beginner, intermediate, and advanced (don't start to high or you'll hurt yourself or die)--and is updated once a day and lasts 4 days. 2) Valuables (collect stuff); also lasts 4 days and is updated once a day; you find more stuff (even Dragonballs) with a Scouter and/or a Dragonball Radar. 3) Knowledge (build PL and/or learn a new attack), which last four days and are not described; also, you can purchase moves by spending credits and items. Here's how: normally you just leave what and if you learn up to chance. However, you can also buy moves by e-mailing Vegeta and me with what move you want to learn and who you want to learn from. You'll be charged based on your location, your Master's location (see Masters page), your PL, the move you want, and the Master himself (obviously it will take more for Gohan to learn from King Cold than from Kame-Sennin). In fact, based on how much your character is liked by a certain Master in a show, you may get a move free (this won't happen too much, though). Of course, you don't have to do this; you could always just leave it to chance. 4) Enemy Quest: new quest. Once enough people have joined, and teams have cemented and stuff, we will introduce certain Super-Villians (either a character not taken or one we make up) that may greatly threaten all the characters. We'll elaborate further when that time comes.
- Upgrades: This is cool. You can learn upgraded attacks from Masters, provided you and the Master know the attack being upgraded and it is decided that you have had the regular attack long enough. Go on a Knowledge Quest (see Quests, above) to upgrade moves (i.e., Kamehameha to Chou Kamehameha and Destructo Disk to Multiple Destructo Disks). If your wondering what the point of this is, upgraded moves GREATLY improve your chances of victory in tournaments and head-to-head fights against stronger opponents (upgraded attacks have a base PL; once your own PL reaches that base, the attack gains a new, higher base PL). You keep your original attack as well as the upgraded one. Keep in mind that using upgrades can greatly expend energy; if you use them too much, you may get hurt or even be killed by all the power.
- Perfect Moves: Great for team head-to-heads. When three or more people all have a certain attack (i.e., Kamehameha), they can combine it to make a tremendously powerful attack called a Perfect. Each character spends most of his energy on the attack, requiring a resting period after use, but the attack almost always destroys what it was meant to (unless it is countered by another Perfect attack). When Enemy Quests begin, there may be some enemies so powerful they can only be destroyed by Perfect attacks. Please note that the more people involved in the attack, the more powerful it is; a Perfect with four people cannot be countered by a Perfect with three people, unless the three are much more powerful each than the four.
- Teams: 1) All potential team members must be on the same planet (the team, once formed, can move to pick up other recruits, though). 2) A team leader is selected (usually the one who forms the team). 3) 7 people (1 leader, 6 members) to a team. 4) Teams can engage in group sneaks, head-to-heads, Power Quests, and Valuables Quests. 5) Team leaders are free to make any rulings that do not violate the rules already set; they have the freedom to discriminate in their members (in terms of Dragonball Z; i.e., a team w/only Saiyans). 6) If a team wants to do something not listed in the rules, have the leader e-mail us. 7) A Team Compound is probably going to be a good buy later in the rpg, when enemies start showing up. In a Compound, a Team member cannot be attacked. Members will also receive 20 credits for every week (real time) they spend in the Compound. You can also train up to 10,000x gravity in your Compound (see Training, above, for a disclaimer on training this high). Of course, only members of the Team that purchased the Compound may use it. Only one Compound per team is allowed, though. Keep this in mind when moving from planet to planet.
- Miscellaneous: 1)You start out with a 10,000 PL and 20 Credits. 2)You start out a planet chosen by us (usually one befitting your character). 3) If you want to do something not mentioned in the rules, e-mail us. 4) One week rpg time=One day real-time
- Tri-Form: A character with Tri-Form can use the power to do multiple things (i.e., Questing, training, etc.). Note, however, that each form only has about one-third the power of the whole, and any power benefits are halved (i.e., training at 25x gravity for one week, normally yielding a 2500 PL boost, will only yield a 1250 PL boost). Kudos to Android #17 for being the first to try this; it was a good idea.
- BOOST FROM TRAINING AT KING KAI'S: You'll love this. From training at Kai's, you will gain--get this--4x what your PL was when you got there. This only works the first time, though. You'll get a 3x boost the next time you go, then a 2x, then a 1x, then a 50 percent boost, then 25, and finally the regular 5000 you get from normal Knowledge Quests. It works the same for King Yema, but you only gain 3x your PL the first time, then 2x, and so on. Training with the Blue and Red Ogres is the same, only you only gain 2x the first time. Remember, there's only so much any master can teach, even if it is Kaiou-Samma himself. There will probably be the appearance of other Kaioushins later in the RPG who will give even larger boosts, but that won't be for a while. One more thing: you can only train with King Kai OR King Yema once a month real-time. This means you may NOT train with BOTH King Kai and King Yema in the same month. Gotta have a few checks on this tremendous boost. Note that this doesn't apply to the Blue/Red Ogres. The only rule about them is you can only train w/one per trip to the Next Dimension. In fact, you could deliberately fall off of Snake Way to train; note that doing so takes all your credits and inventory, however. And to get the Ogres to train you, you must beat them in a test of strength (it would help for you to have a PL of 80,000 or above, first, as this is the base PL for each Ogre). Once you defeat each, though, you'll never have to fight them again. To fight them, send in the fight as you would for head-to-heads, and Vegeta and I will decide whether or not you can learn from them.
- ADVANCED TEAM RULES: Teams may have one Team Compound (on a base planet) and one Team Outpost per planet. Team members cannot be attacked while inside either an Outpost or a Compound, but neither can they attack; both Outposts and Compounds are considered to be hidden to all but Team members (there may be new rules as this RPG continues about Team Wars that include reconnaissance and spying and such, as well as the attacking of Outposts and Compounds, but that will come up later). The Team as a whole receives 20 Credits per week real-time each member spends in the Compound. Outposts do not give salaries in this manner. Outposts and Compounds are considered to have docking areas that hold an indefinite amount of Ships, as well as a cargo hold to hold infinite supplies and items. Ships can hold one Saiyan Space Pod per crew member, as well as infinite supplies, but nothing else. Team members now no longer own individual Credits; all money owned by Team members (leader included) will go into a Team-wide Treasury. Any Team member, after consulting with the Team leader, may draw any money for any purposes, thanks to UIBD. See Teams, above, for additional rules.
- ADVANCED TRANSFORMATION RULES: When a character Transforms, Kaioken becomes obsolete (Kaioken x4, the max allowed by this RPG, gives triple base Power Level to its user). Transformations work in the same manner as Kaioken, in that the user can go in and out of the Transformation at will. Each Transformation adds triple the base Power Level to the user's usable PL, with the exception of the first Transformation, which triples base PL. The character, if a Saiyan, may also become a Golden Oozaru (following Oozaru Rules, below) with a Power Level of 10 times the maximum Super Saiyan PL. (Example: if Son Gokou was at a base Power Level of 3,000,000, and he could go up to Super Saiyan 2, his PL stats on the Character Page would appear thusly: "3,000,000 (base); 9,000,000 (SS1); 18,000,000 (SS2); 30,000,000 (Oozaru); 180,000,000 (Golden Oozaru)")
- FUSION RULES: When two characters each receive a Potarra Earring or learn the Fusion Dance from an as-yet undisclosed Master, they may, of course, Fuse. Fusion adds the base Power Levels of the two characters, then doubles the new total. The highest Transformation the characters may then undergo is the lowest maximum Transformation of the two characters (Example: if Frieza and Coola were to Fuse--into Friecool or something--and Frieza knew Transformation 4 while Coola knew Transformation 5, then Friecool could only reach Transformation 4). Transformations then work as described above. A Fused character with the Earrings may hold the Fuse until the character is defeated or the Earrings are lost; a Fused character who did the Fusion dance can only hold the Fuse for two weeks (rpg time) and then must split. A Fused character that is defeated splits into the two characters that Fused, each at only half their base PL for the amount of time spent Fused, during which time they must rest and cannot Transform for any reason (the strain is too much).
- OOZARU RULES: Only Saiyans need apply. If a Saiyan character knows Oozaru, he may become Oozaru once a month (real-time) under normal circumstances. If the character knows Fake Moon Blast, then the Saiyan may transform at will; note, however, that any Saiyans in the vicinity of the Blast will also become Oozaru. Becoming Oozaru effectively increases your base PL tenfold (with exception of Golden Oozaru, see Advanced Transformation, above). You cannot become Oozaru while dead, even if you have Fake Moon Blast.
- UNIVERSAL AND INTERDIMENSIONAL BANK OF STANDARDS, TRADES, AND TRANSFERS (UIDB): Pronounced YOOD-bee, the UIDB is the entity that established Credits as a universal currency. In matters of the RPG, the UIDB simply allows easy monetary exchange between Team members (see Advanced Team Rules, above). Thanks to the UIDB, any Team member may draw money from the Treasury, no matter where they are. Also, any member of the RPG may now exchange Credits with anyone for any reason if they wish, no matter where the exchangers are.
- GINYU FORCE: This is a team run by Vegeta and I that answers directly to King Cold. They are a secret, elite group of fighters who are in the service of the Friezan royal family. The team will only come in for the Enemy Quests and assorted other periods as antagonists for the rest of the players. You may join the Ginyu Force, if you wish, as the members raise Power Level at a tremendous rate, but you will lose much freedom as a player. Vegeta and I will act as King Cold and Captain Ginyu, respectively, and any members of the Ginyu Force will defer directly to us, doing what we say without hesitation. As this is rather constricting, we do not expect anyone to actually want to join; the only upside is that, when the Ginyu Force appears as an actual team in the RPG (not for a while) it will be nearly unbeatable. NOTE: King Cold and Captain Ginyu are now NPCs, controlled marginally by Vegeta and I. We are NOT controlling two teams each; the Ginyu Force is simply a device for the RPG, and we alone know exactly what we want the team to do and when. Frieza and Coola are, however, playable characters with no restrictions other than the above rules which everyone obeys. Know that any Ginyu from the show do NOT automatically join the Ginyu Force; Vegeta and I expect the members (other than King Cold and Captain Ginyu) to be made up and not actual playable characters.
