Emma turrned up her stereo to drown out whatever crap her little sister Abby was listening to. Suddenly her sister's radio got louder, so Emma turned her's up too. She was listening to Deicide, just to piss Abby off, because she didn't like the industrial metal that Emma listened to, she prefered normal rock, whatever that was.

They had these little stereo wars sometimes, which at times got very loud, but their father didn't mind. Although he prefered older rock to the rock his daughters chocise of new rock, he allowed it, because at least it wasn't rap or pop, which he highly disliked, as did his daughters.

"I hate you Emma!" she heard her sister scream from the next room, because she had won.

"that's ok, because I hate you too!" she yelled back. She turned off her stereo and walked to her sisters room. "what kind of crap are you listening to, anyways?"

" what do you mean 'crap'? it's silverchair, one of the best bands in the world!"

"silverchair?" she had to admit, the lead singer had kind of a good growly type voice." what's this song?"she asked her sister

"Spawn Again

"are all the songs like this?" she thought that if they were, she might get to like silverchair

"a couple are, but not on this album really." She said, swiching tracks to something dreary sounding.

"oh. Well, it sucks. Seriously, Abby, you should start listening to some better music." She said, swiching on the radio.

*Call now and win 2 front row tickets and 2 backstage passes to the sliverchair concert at the Gorge in George next weekend! Caller 33 gets the tickets!*

Abby screamed and grabbed the phone. She called 10 times and she was about to give up, but she got through.

"Uh huh. I did? No way! You're kidding, right? You're not? Oh my god!" she screamed again.

"Ahhh! Dude! Stop with the screaming!" Emma said, rubbing her throbing ears

"I won I won I won I won! I won the silverchair tickets!" By that time, their father was upstairs, curious as to what all the screaming was about.

"What's going on?" he asked, somewhat quietly, seeing Abby on the phone.

" She just won some concert tickets to some band she likes. Silver-something.

"SILVERCHAIR!" Abby screamed.

"Whatever" Emma said.

"oh. That's cool. How many?" their father asked

"2" Emma answered

"well, kiddo, if she wants to go, you're going to have to go with her

" What?" Emma and Abby said in unison, Abby having gotten off of the phone

" NO! daddy, you can't make me go with her!" Abby whined

"I can and I will" their father replied

"but why?"

"A few reasons. One: I'm not driving you and a friend all the way to George just to come home and then go back and pick you up again. Two: I don't want you driving by yourself all the way up there, and three: I'd rather you went with your sister so that I know that you' re safe."

"But Daddy"

"No, no 'but daddys.' That's it. If you wanna go to that concert, you have to go with your sister. That's final." To end the converstaion, he walked back downstairs.

"hey, I don't like this any more than you do. Let's just try to make the best of it. ok?" Emma said, trying to make her upset sister feel better.

***1 week later***

"Abby! Come on! We're gonna miss the opening act! Hurry your ass up!" Emma stood at the bottom of the stairs, wearing a black t-shirt, black jeans, and newly dyed blue hair, waiting for her sister. "Abby! Let's go!"

"I'm coming!" Abby yelled back, running down the stairs in blue jeans and a white silverchair shirt, her black hair pulled back into a ponytail, as usual.

"are you ready?" Emma asked, anxious to get the night over with.

"Yes, indeed I am"

"quote well, let's get out of here then!" they left the house, got in the car, and started the drive to George.

***1 hour later***

"wow. That was kind of a lame opening act." Emma said, already bored. Suddenly the lights dimmed, and an ominous bass line started. Abby stifeled a scream.

"oh my God! They're coming out!" All of a sudden, there were 3 figures on stage, one behind a drumset, one behind a bass, and the other behind a guitar. They pick up the bass line into a song that sounded vaugly familiar to Emma.

"HATE! IS WHAT I FEEL FOR YOU!" the guitar player screamed.

"hey, this song sounds familiar" Emma said to her sister

"It should." Abby replied. "it came out in 95. They played it on the radio all the time. It's called Isreal's Son."

"Oh" Emma said, listening intently to the words coming out of the mouth of the blonde singer on the stage.

"Who's that?"she asked, pointing to the singer.

"That's Daniel Johns. He's so hot, isn't he? Though, I personally perfer him" she said pointing to the bass player, before resuming singing along with the song.

PAIN AND EXICUTION! PUT YOUR HANDS IN THE AIR!

"Interesting lyrical content" Emma muttered to herself. Daniel uttered one last scream, and the song was over.

" So, do you still hate silverchair?" Abby asked teasingly.

"I don't know yet. Maybe not." Emma said back, but her words were drowned out by the beginning of the next song.

***After the concert***

"Oh my god that was so great!" Abby said as they walked towards the backstage area.

"Yeah, it was ok" Emma replied, even though she had enjoyed the concert as much as her little sister had.

"Come on Em, we're not gonna see the band if you don't hurry up!" Abby exclaimed as she pulled her sister by her arm. They showed their backstage passes to one last security guard, and they were finally there. They saw the band standing in a circle together near the center of the room.

"oh my god, there they are! I'm gonna ask them to sign my shirt. Come on!"They cautiously walked up to the band, and waited for them to finish their conversation before they inturupted.

"Hi" the drummer said in a thick australian accent when he noticed them standing there.

"Hi. I'm sorry to bother you guys, but I was wondering if you would mind signing my shirt?" Abby asked, holding up a magic marker hopefully.

"oh, no problem!" the bass player said, taking the marker and signing the shirt, then handing the marker to the drummer, and then to Daniel.

"so, you guys are big fans?" the drummer asked after the band had finished signing Abby's shirt.

"I am, she's not" Abby said, pointing to Emma. "She actually used to really dislike you guys. She's only here because she had to come with me. She likes you now though." Abby ran her mouth off, and Emma slowly turned beet red.

"Hey, don't worry about it. Not everyone likes us." The drummer said, trying to make Emma feel better.

"Hey, well, that's easily fixed. I'm Ben" the drummer said. The bass player stepped forward and introduced himself as Chris.

" I'm daniel" said the singer, who had been completely silent until now. He held out his hand for Emma to shake. "I like your hair, by the way" he said as they shook hands.

"Thanks" Emma said quietly, turning slightly red again.

"hey, why don't you guys hang out with us for a while, that is, if you don't have to leave right away" Ben suggested.

"Yeah! If it's alright with you, Em" Abby looked at her with pleading eyes.

"Um, yeah I guess"

" Great. Do you wanna go outside on the balcony?" Chris asked.

"Ok" Abby said. They went out on the balcony, where it was dark outside. Even though it was june, it was cold. While Abby was chatting it up with ben and Chris, Emma sat on the edge of the balcony. A breeze brushed past her, and she starter to shiver a little bit. Daniel noticed she was by herself, and went over to talk to her.

"Are you cold?" he asked.

"Yeah, a little." She wished she has brought a sweater of something.

"Here" he took off his jacket and put it around her shoulders. She started to take it off, but he put his hand on her shoulder to stop her.

" I don' t want you to get sick or anything." He said.

"Thanks" she said, pulling the jacket tighter around her.

"So" Daniel said, trying to think of something to say.

"Yeah." Emma couldn't thing of anything to say either.

"What other bands do you listen to?" Daniel finally said, deciding that music would probably be his best bet.

"Metallica, Deicide, Slayer, Fuel, Staind, and a lot of the local Seattle stuff." She said

"Oh, thats cool. I like that stuff too, except I don't think I've ever heard Deicide"

"Not a lot of people have. They're really cool though." She was glad they finally found something to talk about.

"So where are you from?" he asked. He decided that he wanted to know everything about this blue haired girl.

"Seattle. But I'm from Sunny California origionally"

"That's cool. I just realized that I don't know your name." Emma turned red. She couldn't believe she'd been so rude not to tell him her name.

"Emma"

"Emma" he repeated. He never wanted to forget her name."Do you wanna get something to eat? I noticed there was a McDonalds right down the street."

"I don't know if I should leave my sister."She looked at Abby, who was laughing with Ben and Chris.

"She'll be fine. Unless you really don't want to leave." Daniel said. She looked at Abby again. She did look like she'd be ok without her for half an hour.

"Ok" she said hesitantly. "Let me go tell her" she walked over to Abby."I'm going to McDonalds with Daniel. I'll be beck in a few." Abby's eyes grew large and her mouth widened into a smile.

"ok" she giggled, and hugged her sister goodbye. When Emma and Daniel got to McDonalds, she ordered a salad with no dressing.

"No burger?" Daniel asked.

"I'm a vegan."

"Oh wow" he said, and ordered the same. "I am too"

***1 hour later***

Chris and Abby were sitting on a bench on the balcony, and Ben was sitting on the balcony edge drumming on his legs with his drum sticks. Abby had fallen asleap with her head on Chris' shoulder, and he was playing with her hair, which was no longer in a ponytail. Emma and Daniel walked in laughing. They stopped when they saw a sleeping Abby.

"Oh wow. I can't believe she fell asleep." Emma said

"It's ok"Said Chris. "We were talking so much, she kinda wore out and fell asleep on my shoulder. We got to know eachother though. She's really great." Abby's eyes flew open and they both smiled. Chris put his are around her and kissed her lightly on the head. Suddenly a thought came to Emma.

"Daniel! What time is it?"

"Um, it's just past midnight

"Oh Shit! We have to go home!" Emma felt like Cinderella, with her whole night turning into a pumpkin. "

Oh damn" Abby moaned. Emma turned to Daniel

"When are you guys leaving?" she asked.

"The day after tomorrow" he said. Now that he met her, he didn\rquote t ever want to leave. Seattle or his blue haired angel. She took a pen and piece of paper out of her jean pocket and wrote down her phone number an d address on it.

"Call me tomorrow" she said. She pressed to paper into his hand and they kissed. Abby stood there with Chris, watching them, mouth agape. It was about 3 minutes before they finally pulled away from eachother.

"Jeeze" she said. She turned to Chris. They hugged and quickly kissed eachother. She walked over to Emma.

"Come on, my friend" she said, and pulled Emma along behind her.

***in the car***

" Dude, man" Abby said to her older sister, who was a little paler that usual. "What's up with you and Daniel?"

"What's up with you and Chris?" countered Emma. Abby blushed profusely.

"Ok, well, that answers my question. It seems kinds quick though."

"yeah, well we have a lot in common. Just talking to him for a couple hours, we feel like we've known eachother forever. We just made this awesome connection. I've never met anyone like him before. There's just something about him. Anyways, lets listen to some music now."

"Like what?" Abby asked.

"I don't care, you pick" Emma said. Gee, I wonder what she's gonna pick. She thought.

LIVED TO LONG THEY'VE COME TO TAKE ME TO A PLACE WHERE I CAN DIE

"Don't complain, you know you like it".Abby said. Of course, she was right. Emma just had to smile hearing his voice. She couldn't believe that she had just spent the past 2 hours with the owner of the wonderful voice.

Dude, we're gonna get it when we get home." But neither of them cared. They both knew it was worth it. **************************************************************************************
