Darkest Dreams for Baby Girls
By the sweet hymns of ruby icicles
And deeply careless sapphire blues,
She will fall from cold dark reality
Into the dreams of her morbid muse.
Mama rocks away exhausted screams
Passing time with once forgotten lore,
Sending baby headlong into ghastly realms
Such atrocities unknown to us before.
She's tossing turning in the candlelight
Lest those horrid monsters break her fall,
Daunting slumber never comes undone
Constant nightmares making life and death so small.
Into unadultered stupor she will rise
Nightly demons disappear once more,
Little baby's waking ignorance is bliss
'Till haunting comes again through pillow's door.
