To live in the midst of the world,
Without wishing its pleasures;
To be a member of each family,
Yet belonging to none;
To share all sufferings;
To penetrate all secrets;
To heal all wounds;
To go from men to God
And offer Him their Prayers;
To return from God to men
To bring pardon and hope;
To have a heart of fire for charity
And a heart of bronze for chastity;
Tot each and to pardon,
Console and bless always--
What a glorious life!
And it is yours,
O Priest of Jesus Christ!
O my Jesus, I beg You on behalf of the whole Church: Grant it love and the light of Your Spirit and give power to the words of priests so that hardened hearts might be brought to repentance and return to You, O Lord.
Lord, give us holy priests; You Yourself maintain them in holiness. O Divine and Great High Priest, may the power of Your mercy accompany them everywhere and protect them from he devil's traps and snares which are continually being set for the souls of priests. May the power of Your mercy, O Lord, shatter and bring to naught all that might tarnish the sanctity of priests, for You can do all things. I ask You, Jesus, for a special blessing and for light for the priests before whom I will make my confessions throughout my lifetime. Amen.

Most High Glorious God from whom all good comes.
By the power of the Holy Spirit, call more workers into your harvest to follow in the footprints of your Son,
our Lord Jesus Christ, after the example of St. Francis of Assisi according to the Capuchin way of life. Give them the strength to be generous with the fit of themselves. May they see chastity as love, poverty as freedom and obedience as victory, with an apostle's heart to serve you and your people all the days of their life. Amen
Hail Mary, full of grace; all generations call you blessed.
Hail Mother of God; when asked by the angel
to bear the Son of the Most High, filled with faith,
you responded: “Let it be done unto me according to your word.
Holy Mother of Jesus, at the wedding feast at Cana,
you prompted your Son to perform His first sign.
Be with us as we discern our life’s work and guide us
in the way we are called to follow in the footsteps of your Son.
Holy Mother of the Savior, at the foot of the cross you mourned
the death of your Son. Bless and embrace the loving parents
of all priests, deacons, brothers and sisters.
Holy Mother of the Good Shepherd, turn your motherly care
to our diocese. Intercede for us to the Lord of the harvest
to send more laborers to the harvest.
Queen of Peace, Mirror of Justice, Health of the Sick,
inspire vocations in our time. Let the word of your Son
be made flesh anew in the lives of persons anxious
to proclaim the Good News of everlasting life.
Draw them near to the heart of your Son
so that they can understand the beauty and the joy
that awaits them when the Lord Jesus calls them
to be His witnesses. Amen.
The priest...is something transcendent: through baptism he brings souls to birth, through the sacrament of penance he purifies them, through communion he gives them our Lord's body as He himself did at the last supper, and at their deaths he helps them to appear before the Beloved by giving them...their final forgiveness and their supreme strength...Every single day of his life, he does what Jesus did during his three years of ministry - he teaches men to know, love and serve their good Master. What a vocation!
