Q Are you proud to be a Catholic youth?
A You should be.
Q Want to know why?
A You are in good company. Many of our popular saints today were canonized or will soon be canonized because they led good and holy lives as a Catholic youth.
Maria Goretti, Jacinta, Francisco, Dominic...what do these young people have in common?
They all had many things in common but the most important thing they share is they hated sin. They never wanted to offend God by sinning.
Little Jacinta at age 10, is the youngest non-martyred (was not killed defending the faith) person beatified by the Catholic Church. She once said that "Most souls go to hell because of sins of impurity."
Q What is meant by purity?
A When something or in this case someone is pure, meaning clean or spotless or untainted by evil or guilt; physically chaste.
Q What is meant by impurity?
A This is the opposite of purity. When we do things that offend God, whether it be by thought, word or action, we are no longer in a state of purity but of impurity.
Q How can we avoid being impure?
A We can avoid being impure by protecting ourselves. We can do this by watching what our eyes see Click Here For Help in Watching Good TV; what our ears hear and always staying close to God.
Q How can we avoid sinning?
A It is sometimes difficult to avoid sin. The reason for the difficulty is because we do not put God and others before ourselves.
The TV is my shepherd, I shall not want.
It makes me to lie on the sofa.
It leads me away from the Faith. It destroys my soul.
It leads me to the path of sex and violence for the advertiser's sake.
Yea, though I walk in the shadow of Christian responsibilities,
There will be no interruption, for the TV is with me.
It's cable and remote control, they comfort me.
It prepares a commercial for me in the midst of my worldliness,
It anoints my head with humanism and consumerism;
My covetousness runneth over.
Surely ignorance and laziness shall follow me all the days of my life.
And I shall dwell in the house of wretchedness watching TV forever.
