Reviews

This week I will be reviewing a Christian web site that I have recently done business with and I know to be trustworthy. If you have recently read a book or been to a cool web site or played a Christian game I want you to send me a review of it. That way there can be more than just one review a week.

Hombre’s

This is a very good site for SWCCG and I would highly recommend it to any one intersted in the game. At the site you can visit chat rooms, read price guides, enter contests, order cards, boxes and sets at good prices, and a whole lot of other stuff. You will also find ‘Jesus bless you’ at the end of almost every page and along the bottom screen. I have recently delt with him and have found Hombre’s to be a very trust worthy dealer and a very kind person. Please go there sometime and check it out! you can visit the site at: http://www.bright.net/~hombre and you can e-mail them at: hombre@bright.net

1There is a time for everything, and a season for every activity under heaven:

2a time to be born and a time to die, a time to plant and a time to uproot,

3a time to kill and a time to heal, a time to tear down and a time to build,

4a time to weep and a time to laugh, a time to mourn and a time to dance,

It Takes Guts to Say "Jesus"

This is a true story of something that happened just a few years ago at USC. There was a professor of philosophy there who was a deeply committed atheist. His primary goal for one required class was to spend the entire semester attempting to prove that God couldn't exist. His students were always afraid to argue with him because of his impeccable logic. For twenty years, he had taught this class and no one had ever had the courage to go against him. Sure, some had argued in class at times, but no one had ever 'really gone against him' (you'll see what I mean (later).

Nobody would go against him because he had a reputation. At the end of every semester, on the last day, he would say to his class of 300 students, "If there anyone here who still believes in Jesus, stand up!" In twenty years, no one had ever stood up. They knew what he was going to do next. He would say, "because anyone who does believe in God is a fool. If God existed, he could stop this piece of chalk from hitting the ground and breaking. Such a simple task to prove that he is God, and yet he can't do it." And every year, he would drop the chalk onto the tile floor of the classroom and it would shatter into a hundred pieces. All of the students could do nothing but stop and stare. Most of the students were convinced that God couldn't exist. Certainly, a number of Christians had slipped through, but for 20 years, they had been too afraid to stand up.

Well, a few years ago, there was a freshman who happened to get enrolled in the class. He was a Christian, and had heard the stories about this professor. He had to take the class because it was one of the required classes for his major. and he was afraid. But for 3 months that semester, he prayed every morning that he would have the courage to stand up no matter what the professor said or what the class thought. Nothing they said or did could ever shatter his faith, he hoped. Finally the day came. The professor said, "If there is anyone here who still believes in God, stand up!" The professor and the class of 300 people looked at him, shocked, as he stood up at the back of the classroom. The professor shouted, "You FOOL!! If God existed, he could keep this piece of chalk from breaking when it hit the ground!" He proceeded to drop the chalk, but as he did, it slipped out of his fingers, off his shirt cuff, onto the pleats of his pants, down his leg, and off his shoe. As it hit the ground, it simply rolled away, unbroken. The professor's jaw dropped as he stared at the chalk. He looked up at the young man and then ran out of the lecture hall. The young man who had stood up proceeded to walk to the front of the room and share his faith in Jesus for the next half hour. 300 students stayed and listened as he told of God's love for them and of his power Through Jesus. "Yet to all who received HIM, to those who believed in HIS name, HE gave the right to become children of God-children born not of natural descent, nor of human decision or a husband's will, but born of GOD." "But HE knows the way that I take. When HE has tested me, I will come forth as gold." Job 23:10 You have one of 2 choices... 1) delete this and never look at it again 2) pass this along to your Christian and non-Christians friends and let them have encouragement we all need every day. God Bless you!!

THE ARGUMENT

Jesus and Satan have an argument as to who is the better computer programmer. This goes on for a few hours until they come to an agreement to hold a contest, with God to be the judge. They set themselves before their computers and begin. They type furiously, lines of code streaming up the screen for several hours straight. Seconds before the end of the competition, a bolt of lightning strikes, taking out the electricity. Moments later, the power is restored, and God announces that the contest is over. He asks Satan to show what he has come up with. Satan is visibly upset and cries, "I have nothing. I lost it all when the power went out." "Very well, then," says God, "let us see if Jesus fared any better..." Jesus enters a command and the screen comes to life with a vivid display, and voices of an angelic choir pour forth from the speakers...Satan is astonished. He stutters, "B-b-but how? I lost everything, yet Jesus' program is intact! How did he do it?"

God chuckles, "Everybody knows...Jesus saves!" Philippians 3:13&14

Awana Clubs International

Hi all. As you can read, this is about the Awana program. Basically Awana is a Bible memory club for age 3-High School. There are also adult leaders, who can do the books as well. The goal of the Awana program is to "reach boys, and girls with the gospel of Christ, and to train them to serve Him."

The name 'Awana' comes from 2 TImothy 2:15. Awana stands for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed. Through six different club levels, Awana seeks to bring the Gospel to unsaved kids, and to help saved kids to learn God's word, and to apply it to their lives. By the time you have completed the Awana program, you have learned over a thousand verses. These verses are in the memory for when we should need them. I personally think that Awana is important because it gives kids another place to go. In today's society there's so much to influence kids for evil, Awana (Like Youth For Christ, Campus Crusade, and Young Life) helps to give them a place for good Christian fellowship, and important lessons about life. I would recommend the Awana program for everybody. Matthew Pickens

BIBLE STUDIES

Did you know that the space program is busy proving that what has been called "myth" in the Bible is true? Mr Harold Hill, President of the Curtis Engine Company in Baltimore Maryland and a consultant in the space program, relates the following development. I think one of the most amazing things that God has for us today happened recently to our astronauts and space scientists at Greenbelt, Maryland.

They were checking the position of the sun, moon, and planets out in space where they would be 100 years and 1000 years from now. We have to know this so we won't send a satellite, up and have it bump into something later on its orbits. We have to lay out the orbits in terms of the life of the satellite, and where the planets will be so the whole thing will not bog down.

They ran the computer measurement back and forth over the centuries and it came to a halt. The computer stopped and put up a red signal, which meant that there was something wrong either with the information fed into it or with the results as compared to the standards.

They called in the service department to check it out and they said "what's wrong ?" Well they found there is a day missing in space in elapsed time. They scratched their heads and tore their hair. There was no answer. Finally, a Christian man on the team said, "You know, one time I was in Sunday School and they talked about the sun standing still." While they didn't believe him, they didn't have an answer either, so they said,"Show us". He got a Bible and went back to the book of Joshua where they found a pretty ridiculous statement for any one with "common sense." There they found the Lord saying to Joshua,"Fear them not, I have delivered them into thy hand; there shall not a man of them stand before thee." Joshua was concerned because he was surrounded by the enemy and if darkness fell they would overpower them. So Joshua asked the Lord to make the sun stand still! That's right--"The sun stood still and the moon stayed---and hasted not to go down about a whole day!"

The astronauts and scientists said, "There is the missing day!" They checked the computers going back into the time it was written and found it was close but not close enough. The elapsed time that was missing back in Joshua's day was 23 hours and 20 minutes--not a whole day. They read the Bible and there it was "about (approximately) a day" These little words in the Bible are important, but they were still in trouble because if you cannot account for 40 minutes you'll still be in trouble 1,000 years from now. Forty minutes had to be found because it can be multiplied many times over in orbits.

As the Christian employee thought about it, he remembered somewhere in the Bible where it said the sun went BACKWARDS. The scientists told him he was out of his mind, but they got out the Bible and read these words in 2 Kings: Hezekiah, on his death-bed, was visited by the prophet Isaiah who told him that he was not going to die. Hezekiah asked for a sign as proof. Isaiah said "Do you want the sun to go ahead 10 degrees?" Hezekiah said "It is nothing for the sun to go ahead 10 degrees, but let the shadow return backward 10 degrees.."

Isaiah spoke to the Lord and the Lord brought the shadow ten degrees BACKWARD! Ten degrees is exactly 40 minutes! Twenty three hours and 20 minutes in Joshua, plus 40 minutes in Second Kings make the missing day in the universe!

"How to get other people to join CTA" by Stormtrooper316

We are currently have 100 members in the Christian Trading Alliance. That isn't too bad at all for the short time we've been around and I'd like to thank everyone who has joined for joining. As most of you who have visited our webpage know, one of the purposes of CTA is to inform others about Christ. You probably have several friends(people you know on the Internet included) that probably aren't saved. The purpose of this article is to help you get your friends and other people you know to join CTA. DS-61-9 and I have agreed to have a contest. Whoever gets the most people to join in a two week period(before the next newsletter comes out)will get 5 trades credited toward their rank.

The next question is, how do I get other people to join CTA? There are several ways of doing this and you can come up with your own too. The first way is e-mail all your references and ask them if they would like to join and you can send them the web address of the CTA webpage too. Your references are more willing to listen to you than other people because they have traded with you and know that you are a good trader.

Another way to get people to join is to post on Bulletin Boards. Just a simple post on Decipher or other trading bulletin boards will work. Just put a simple subject; something like Come join CTA (Christian Trading Alliance). It isn't too difficult and you can be creative about it. Then give them some info in the body of the message like the CTA webpage address or have them e-mail you to talk it over.

Those are just two methods to get other people to join. It doesn't take much time and you can use those two methods above or any (within reason) method you can think of. When the people you find want to become members, have them send their information to DS-61-9, but also have them tell him who got him to join. (In other words, make sure the people you get to join includes YOUR e-mail address and states that you told them about CTA). The winner will be announced in the next issue of the CTA newsletter. Saturday the 30th at 6pm is the deadline for the contest.

Prayer Requests

----------

All the prayer requests in this section will need prayer so try to add at least one of them to your prayer before you go to bed or at any time during the day. If you have something that needs prayer then write up a short summary of what you need prayer for and send it to me. You can also just ask for a silent prayer request in which you just say that you need prayer but not what it is for, which you can just say that you have an unspoken. You can also request that I don’t publish it and that just me, Daniel,Joshua, and all the other Rangers pray for it. Please read all of these and try to pray for them. Also if your prayer has been answered please send me a letter telling me what happened.

Recently, the District Court Judge for Dekalb County Alabama issued a ruling outlawing any type of prayer, Bible reading, or other types of worship in Dekalb County public schools. A "Prayer Monitor" has even been hired to patrol the schools and enforce this ruling!

In His grip,

When I moved about a year ago, I left behind 2 friends who were very dear to me. throughout this year I've managed to keep in contact with them, and their lives have taken interesting turns, one good and the other bad. Both friends could use some prayers. Friend # 1 (Jason) Has denounced God and has experimented in several forms of wickedness, including premarital sex and various religious offenses. He once was a Christian, but has since obviously fallen away. Please pray for him. Pray that he'll turn away from his evil path and find Christ again. Pray that he'll find comfort, peace, and hope. Friend # 2 (Jeremy) Has gone to Church for the fist time in at least three years last Weekend. He called me up the day after and told me about how good he felt and how he wanted to keep going but was afraid of what his parents would do if they found out. He has felt the Holy Spirit and has an oppurtunity to become a disciple of Christ. Please pray for him too. Pray that he'll find a way to keep going to church. Please pray that the goodness he's felt will continue to stay with him.
