Discography-Clayton Tracy

Worship This is the first effort from Clayton
it is a demo, of really heavy "death metal", i guess from 1989. Not my favorite of the things that he has done.
Also, with the same group Dread he made another later demo, which he has told me is somewhat better, but i don't think anyone has heard it, and he no longer possesses a copy

Skin-Skin

His completely solo effort-recorded in 1991 on obviously substandard equipment. even now, listening to this short work, it is hard to believe some kid in early high school did all the work involved with borrowed equipment, on an old pawn shop 4-track, and in the space of two months. Marks the beginning of a style completely apart from the norm. The most normal of his works by far. Closest thing to it might be NIN circa "pretty hate..", but nothing really sounds like it. Although the work is obviously immature, there are some especially fine tracks: Intro1, Intro2, Greed are among them

Skin-Home

This one, recorded in 1994 or 5, (dates appear different on various copies), shows a maturing artist with absolute disregard for the conventional. The cover verse also provides an insight into directions to come in which his work would move. Employs a number of different instruments, among them the dulcimer, djimbai(?sp?),pianos, viola, harmonica, harp, kazzoo, and some horns. Also increased use of the sampler and experimentation, especially on the John Cage tribute: Beaten, which employs a number of percussion instruments, among them toms recorded underwater. Again, sole credit for creation to Clayton except bass on The Gopher by Robert Lee Garza. Favorites of mine: Pure of Mind, The Gopher, Beaten, To Serve and Protect

Vein-Aphyte

Meaning drugs in greek, this was recorded in 1995, for the most part, and is completely outside the realm of pop/rock/alternative/industrial which label might possibly apply to the other works up to this point. This might explain the different name, although, once again, the music is all written, played, and produced by the one man. Extremely experimental, it reminds one of early progessive/new age composers like Glass, although this work is not minimal. Almost all without vocals, and employing heavy keyboard and fx usage (more than normal). The closest to a good description I have heard for it is -"like the soundtrack to a sci-fi like "Blade Runner on Mushrooms" It is quite obviously not made for commercial gain, however is also quite obviously a complicated work of great depth at the same time. My favorite track: Coyote Stole the Sun although Temperature runs a close second.
