Diamond Head Crater Celebration - Hawaii April 1, 2006
Diamond Head Crater Celebration

An overview of part of the Festival Grounds inside of Diamond Head Crater looking towards the stage. This was the first concert inside the crater in nearly three decades! The celebration came after (literally) 40 days and 40 nights of rain but the weather held out for this occasion and it was sunny most of the day. Plywood sidewalks were provided to keep people from sinking into the mud ;-) but Diamond Head is a wonderful place for a music festival! Let's hope we don't have to wait another 30 years for the next one.

Yvonne Elliman (a local girl who rose to stardom in the 1970's) was very entertaining, she only had time to do two songs but one of them "Can't Find My Way Home" was among the most memorable moments of the day!

War performed at the last Crater Fest but only Lonnie Jordan remains from that group.

Downtown Charley and the Humbones were one of two bands who entertained from the smaller stage near the beer tent while the main stage was between sets. Analogue also performed on this stage (sorry no picture ;-(

Linda Ronstadt was also a veteran of past Crater Fest's

The Steve Miller Band was another veteran of past Crater Fest's but here became the first act to perform at night.

The great Norton Buffalo performing with the Steve Miller Band.

Stevie "Guitar" Miller played a very impressive set which included most of his hits and electrified the crowd!

Mahalos to Brian Reed for these pics!
