S.A.Y.R.C. is a group for young South Australians who are dedicated to helping improve awareness and understanding between indigenous and non-indigenous Australians.

Aboriginal Reconciliation is one of the most important issues facing Australians today. The process of reconciliation involves coming to terms with our nation's past to enable Australia to have a united future.

Young Australians play a particularly important role in the 'people's movement' of reconciliation. The injustices and intolerances of the past – some unfortunately still present today – are due to a lack of understanding and acceptance. Realising this, group of delegates to the 1998 National Youth Reconciliation Convention formed S.A. S.T.A.R.S. (South Australian Students That Action Reconciliation Seriously) to help young South Australians to learn about issues concerning reconciliation and to represent the South Australian youth in discussions about issues concerning reconciliation. This group became the South Australian Youth Reconciliation Committee.

The members of S.A.Y.R.C. do not, by any means, consider themselves to be experts on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander Affairs. There is a distinct focus upon educating the members themselves, not only for personal understanding, but also so the S.A.Y.R.C. can effectively represent young people in discussions concerning reconciliation.
