Hillbilly Happenings

Check here often to see what's happening at the ole homestead.
Don't expect nothing to exciting. We're pretty laid back:)

  • Luke made the neatest seed saver. It drys seed in a day rather than 2 weeks!

  • Bryce's Team, Airtex took second place in the tournament. They played so good!

  • Carol and Doug brought us back a souvineir from their canoeing trip.
A really wild looking crawdad for the aquarium!

  • Is everyone doing those internet hot deals?
I have probably gotten $400.00 worth of stuff lately for hardly nothing!

  • Did a mini-free spree. $76.00 worth of groceries. Paid $2.17.
Refund checks this month totaled $169.00.

  • Enrolled in school to get my second college degree
As if my life wasnt busy enough!

  • Canned a bunch of V-5. Thats the podunk version of V-8.
No one wanted beets, watercress and spinach in their juice.

  • After borrowing everyone in town's scanner, I finally got
Luke and Les's picts scanned. Thanks to Trena for doing this!

  • Carol's boys got her the internet for her birthday.
I see a lot of good deal swapping coming.

  • Have 4 new chicks. The others didnt hatch.
We think it was because of the heat from the canning. We have a new batch on.

  • Traded rabbits with Shelly for a while. We wont even discuss how that turned out: )

  • Still Canning and freezing. Put up 60 more quarts of beans and a bunch of stock.

  • Finally got the film out of the camera and got it sent off.
Look for a bunch of pictures soon!

  • Elderberries and blackberries are almost ready.
    Can you say homemade wine?

  • Andy has acquired another truck for his collection.
This one makes all the others look good!

  • Luke's sister Kay found us an incubator and we are anxiously awaiting
the hatching of the 25 chicken and 13 Turkey eggs we have in it!

  • I took all kinds of pictures for the page and the camera just quit. The
film is stuck and there is no way to manually remove it.
So pictures will be a little delayed.

  • The tiny fish we caught in our casting net (carp, bluegill, bullheads) and threw
in the aquarium are thriving! So is the turtle Teresa found at the river.

  • The 4th of July party was a success. We played basketball, baseball, volleyball,
washers and horseshoes to work off all that good food! The highlight
of the evening was Luke getting us all stuck in the backwater.

  • The garden is in full force. The minute I get caught up on canning - its time
to pick again. All that food put up is wonderful though!

  • Learned to can. I put up 27 quarts green beans, 8 quarts dill pickles, 10
pints bread and butter spears, 16 quarts spicy tomato/potato soup and 10
pints vegetable soup. Also refrigerator pickles, pickled eggs and pickled hotdogs.
A big thanks to Carol, Pam and the discussion groups. They were such a help!

  • If the rain doesnt let up we'll be boating to town soon!

  • Had my first problem with my baby (Beauregard, the Pekininese). He stayed
out all night. I was so worried. Turns out he was locked up in Murph's bargain barn!

  • Carol and I have been getting tons of those free M & M's and Whiskas Cat Food.
I dont have a cat but Beuregard Loves It!

  • We've really been enjoying that smoker. Im really impressed with it.

  • Went on another free spree. The total before coupons was 220.00.
The total after coupons was 3.58. I'm already working on my next one!

  • Won a couple of awards on our webpage and topped 1000 on the visitor counter.
    Im so excited!

  • Got some new wildlife. A buck, doe and a baby rabbit. Too Cute!

  • Bryce got his first double at his ball game!

  • Nanny is beginning to show.

  • Shelly made an rare appearance! Try to come out a little more often ok?

  • Les of course misses me so much he cant stay away!

  • Got the trailer that we are hooking on to ours moved home.

  • We all went to the saddle club to watch Andy break his new horse George.
We think George broke him instead.

  • We have a new colt. She is a medicine hat. Pictures will follow soon.

  • Got 70.00 worth of groceries in town. We get 85.00 back in refunds on it.
So we made 15.00 to bring it all home.

  • We've been enjoying watching Les and James use their new toy. Its a funnel
with a shut off valve that holds two beers. My dogs are still recovering
from the peach schnapps they injested on these two's last visit.

  • The turkey's and the chickens have both went to sitting.
We'll have lots of chicks for Bailey to play with.

  • Murph managed to pull Willie home after his truck broke down
without tipping him over this time!

  • We've been sprucing the ole homestead up. Luke's been building a deer/fish
cleaning station, flower fences, lawn furniture etc and I've painted everything in site.
