12 Steps to Savings

~~12 Steps To Savings~~~

The best way to get started is to go to www.refundcents.com. That is how I learned. You have to subscribe to her magazine but its well worth it. Pays for itself in about a week. It alerts you to all the new forms, coupons, good deals etc. I used it nonstop until I got the hang of this. Now I subscribe strictly for access to her website.
Here are some starter tips though

1. Always buy items that will keep on sale and use a coupon. Buy all you can afford of items that will keep and store well. Hygiene items etc. I bought 60 tubes of toothpaste once. I know this sounds crazy but I paid a nickle a piece for them by using coupons. This totals 3.00. About the price of one tube. We used it all before the expiration date also. Make it a goal to never pay full price for deodarant, toilet paper etc.

2. Always check the clearance Aisle. Using coupons on clearance items often results in free items. Also buy things out of season. Always hit the holiday clearance to get next years stuff.

3. Check out new products. Manufactures often offer high dollar coupons and sales on new products!

4. Check out some of the sites listed on my web page and by the refund forms for the products you buy. I do all the Try Me free forms because if you use a coupons they are paying you to go to the store and by the products. They will pay you back the price before the coupon was rung up.

5. Try to get multiple coupon inserts from the sunday paper. Have your friends save them or volunteer at a recycling center.

6. The free spree - do refunds that offer a free product coupon in exchange for buying something. Save them until you get enough to do a free spree. Be sure and watch those expiration dates though.

7. Always go to the store as soon as possible after the sale ad comes out. Good buys often dont last long!

8. File, File, File! Coupons and rebates aren't any good if you cant find them!

9. Never ever go to the store without your coupon file! You never no when an unadvertised sale will be going on!

10. Save all upc and reciepts. Even if the product doesnt have a rebate now. It may next month! For example - Ragu spagetti sauce is all we eat. I have never saved the upc because there never was a refund. Now they have an unlimited refund. Every three upc gets you a free jar or a blockbuster rental. So I basically threw away 100's of jars of free spaghetti sauce!

11. If you have multiple inserts. Sort them into like piles. Then staple in each coupon and then cut out. It saves so much time and all your like coupons are together.

12. It seems confusing at first but you will pick it up real quick the first time you save big money at the grocery store or get a mailbox full of checks! The first thing you need to do is get coupons/forms. They are hard to find in my area so I just purchase them for a small fee. The sites to do this are found on my website. Please let me know if you have any more questions!
