Personal Information

Etymology:

Linda - Origin: Spanish. Meaning: Pretty.

Marie - Origin: French form of the name Maria, whose ethnic origin is Latin. Meaning: Mary - The Perfect One.

Van Tassell - Origin: Small Dutch Island of Texel, the largest of the Wadden islands, a chain of small islands located in the North of The Netherlands.

Texel is about 25 km long and 9 km wide - it is a famous resting place during the migration season but the island also welcomes lots of breeding birds such as Terns, Gulls, Godwits, Oystercatchers, Redshanks, Greylag geese, etc. In Winter, Texel is known for being a safe reserve for thousands of Brent geese.

Texel is really a birdwatching paradise and is almost entirely run as an ornithological reserve and natural park. Here you can see an undescribable quantity of seabirds and limicolous while the flights of wild geese obscure the sky and fields. There are beaches, new and old dunes, heaths, wetlands of all types, and extensive mudflats on the Waddensea.

The original North American settlers came to New Amsterdam in the 1600's. The first North American born Van Tassell was Jan Cornelius, son of Jan Cornelius and an Indian Princess, Cantoneras. From those humble beginnings the family has grown to 12 generations and have spread out the width and breadth of the continent. Over 14,000 people have been born with the surname Van Tassell.

Favorite Quote: Two happy lovers can make a single moon-drop in the grass. Walking, they cast two shadows that flow together. Waking, they leave one sun empty in their bed. .·:*¨¨*:·.

Poetry is the sister of Sorrow. Every man that suffers and weeps is a poet; every tear is a verse, and every heart a poem. When the Divine Artist would produce a poem, He plants a germ of it in a human soul, and out of that soul the poem springs and grows as from the rose-tree the rose.

As a contemporary poet, this is how I view the sacred essence of words. Though intangible, they can heal the wounded heart, calm the rapid pulse or inspire an imagination just opening its iridescent colors to the world.

Yet, as human beings, we must be prudent in the words we select to express our feelings and experiences. Inspiration is always there waiting for us. The candle flame continually beckons; but we must carefully interpret how its flickering rhythm chants, how the burning tear cries out to each heart. Truth whispers in the glance of an eye, the twinge of a leaf or the permanence of stone.

Presently, I work as an accountant; and I love what I do since it satiates the analytical side of my brain. For the creative side, I have always felt that writing poetry is as much a part of my soul as breathing in air.

I hope that in honing my craft as writer and poet, my voice will inspire people to see life as a perpetual journey that branches out into divergent paths of knowledge, challenge and discovery.

In all things may we discover one another, glance into the mirror of each other's soul, and recognize within all some small part of ourselves. We are one.

Have a happy day and thanks for visiting my humble home on the web. I do hope we meet again.
