Shibori Textile Design & Arts, Craft Fairs

Shibori is the Japanese word for ways of embellishing textiles by shaping cloth and securing it before dyeing. The word means "to wring or squeeze or press." The process is of manipulating fabric. The word "Shibori" seems the most useful term for the entire group of shaped-resist textiles. "Chance and accident" also give life to the Shibori process, this is its special magic and strongest appeal.

There is a similarity to tie-dye, although in my case, I use a reverse-resist method. In other words, I paint with bleach, removing dye rather than adding it. The garments themselves are recycled designer styles. They are pre-washed and will not fade or shrink.

I also use the brush painted method of painting fabric with bleach, some of my new t-shirts are pictured below.
