Born in Michigan in 1917, she began painting after her family was grown and
after her retirement from a teaching career. She is a world-traveler and creativity is her
nature. She has explored the realms of writing and music as well as of painting. “Life
without the arts is unthinkable,” she says. Largely self-taught, she is a student of
nature. She works from her home on the banks of the White River, in west Michigan.
Following are a few examples of her work, illustrating only a sample of the
breadth of her interests and abilities. Miriam Gibbs accepts a limited number of
commissions each year. The paintings shown are identified as oils and acrylics, with
canvas size. Further information about specific paintings is available on request.
Prices shown include ground shipping (within the U.S.) and insurance.
