Tamil Discipleship Training School

Purpose
The purpose of the Discipleship Training School (DTS) is to make disciples. People whose lifestyles reflect their close relationship with Jesus. The goal is to strengthen individuals in their relationship with God and to equip them to share the good news of Jesus Christ with others throughout the world, with an emphasis on reaching the unreached people groups in Tamil Nadu, India and all over the world.

Length of School
The DTS runs for five months (20 weeks), consisting of a 10 week lecture phase and then a 10 week outreach phase.

Lecture Phase - Course Content
Knowing God - His Character, His ways, His guidance.
Your relationship with God - Worship, Quiet times, maintaining a clear conscience
Your relationship with others - Relating to parents and others in authority, male/female relationships, forgiving others.
Spiritual Warfare and Intercession - Knowing your enemy, the power of God through prayer
Missions - Knowing your responsibility, learning to communicate your faith effectively.

Outreach phase
During the outreach, opportunites are given for reaching out to people and for serving in practical ways. The outreaches are conducted in various other locations in India.

Missions opportunities after the DTS
Should you sense that God is calling you into missions, YWAM India has many opportunities for involvement in both active and support ministries. People with practical skills such as book keepers, cooks, secretaries, primary school teachers, mechanics and construction workers are essential for the existence and success of the centre. Other areas of ministry include mercy ministries, city outreach, and church and school ministry.

*Be over 18 years old

School location - YWAM Paddapi Centre
The Tamil Discipleship training School is located at the YWAM Padappai centre, approximately 40 km southwest of Chennai. The centre is focused on equipping Tamil believers to be disciples, so that the local church is built up, existing ministries gain new workers, and so that new ministres are started in Tamil Nadu and among Tamil speaking people around the world.

This year, after PJacob got the initial vision for it, YWAM coordinated with churches to reach over 30,000 children (thirty thousand) through the VBS programmes this summer. During this last summer wonderful miracles have taken place. .

The church ministry ran a VBS in one of the slum areas of Madras. In many areas the majority of the children that attended were from non Christian families. .

Stories are now being told of many children who found the Lord, one who prevented her mother from committing suicide along with herself because of a difficult father, a father who quit drinking alcohol because of the prayers of his child in VBS, and many other exciting results. .

Pastors were blessed with this ministry as it helps them to get into the families, brings the children to their church, and impacts the community. Children will become tomorrows leaders. Did you know that 85% of those that make decisions to follow Christ do so when they are between the ages of 4-14 years of age? .

You have all heard of the 10/40 Window where we are working but most of us have the 4-14 Window (children between the ages of 4-14) right near to us! Reaching Children is a strategic method for the Kingdom of God.
