Well, I'm tired of not sleeping in my own bed and sleeping on my sofa bed. It's like sleeping on a bunch of steel bars. OUCH!!
Anyway, I know you want to know why I sleep there, right? Because I have twins. They sleep in the same room and my daughter cries all night. They are 9 months old and she still doesn't get it yet. So when she cries she wakes up my son, who will sleep 12 hours if you let him. So to avoid having TWO babies up all night, I take my baby girl and we sleep in the sofa bed.
I must admit that I have grown to love cuddling up with her every night but...ENOUGH IS ENOUGH!! I just picture myself with a five year old saying..."c'mon mommy, let's go to bed." No..I want to go back to my own bed, not to mention that my husband is there too.
So, we started THE PLAN. The Plan is that we will move our son up to our room with his crib and allow our daughter to cry alittle and learn how to sleep all night, (without mommy patting her and giving her the binkie when she loses it).
We started on Sunday night, she went in at 7pm. My hubby took her and on the way to the nursery she was staring at me. It broke my heart. How badly I wanted to say " Oh forget it!". She screamed and cried for a while. My son couldn't sleep with all the noise, even though he was upstairs. They both finally got to sleep and she slept till 10:30. That's when all hell broke loose. She realized that I was not there and started wailing, LOUDLY. We let her cry for a few then we took turns going in and patting her. NEVER picking her up. She fell back to sleep at 12:30 and slept till around 3am. Then on and off till she stayed awake at 6:30am. That was Day 1.
Day2: we were exhausted, so was she. 7pm rolled around and we put her to bed. She whined for about a half hour then we (my hubby and I) woke up al 6:30am. SHE DID IT!!!HOORAY!! We couldn't believe it.
Day3: I was alone this time cause my hubby had to go to work. Well I put her in bed and she whined a few times during the night but put herself to sleep. I never had to go in (except to secretly check on her).
I'm now on Day 4 so I will get back to you and let you know how long it took and if it worked. I think I waited too long to do this so take the hint if you are having this problem.
