Dalagus of Darkrealm, Keeper of the Tower of Knowledge and Holder of the Key of Lies. Born 640 years ago in the Realm of Darkness. He lived most of his life fending for it. He learnt the art of Magic from an Archmage named Kolreth Vah Nooge. After 220 some odd years in that realm he was banished by the greater demon, Darken. Darken had come to Darkrealm centuries before and posed as a deity. Darken used his influence over the populous to keep his secret hidden from those who would destroy him. After Dalagus found out the true origin of Darken, Dalagus was banished to the realm of Rivens. Dalagus swore he would return to the Dark Realms to free his people from the vile creature, Darken.
During his stay in RavensDale, Dalagus has made many friends and very little enemies. He keeps to his traditions that were taught to him by his mother from birth. His goal of returning to Darkerealm looks bleaker every day. As a former friend now turned insane by the evil magic of Darken has now begun a to hunt down Dalagus for his evil master.
After finding him alone in the Inn one night Reyan turned Dalagus's magic inward up him and caused a great magical explosion, destroying Dalagus's staff and body. The essence that was inside the staff enter the remains of Dalagus and reformed him, sacraficing its own power to save the mage. Unfortunately it stripped Dalagus of all his magical and priestly powers and leaving the starffs small ruby embeded in his forehead. Fortunately his powers replaced with the ability to use a raw form of magic.
Dalagus slipped off into the wilds alone to train and refine his new power. Reyan was oblivious to the mages survival and returned home to Darken to tell his lord of his success. Meanwhile, Dalagus returns to Ravensdale, healthy and almost to full strength. He begins finding that his new magic is more powerful then once anticipated. Losing control of the magic Dalagus has once again draw attention to himself.
The minions of Darken are sent to find dalagus once again but he is able to mask himself from their searches. Avoiding most of the more powerful battles until he is ready to face them. He bides him time, planning the time when he is going to strike back with all his might.
Dalagus has recently be searching for someone to fill a space in his heart. A century or so with out a companion has made him lonely. He has met a woman that fills that space, though for one of the few moments in his life, he is a fraid. He is afraid that she will reject him and his lifestyle. Though handsome he may be, settled down he is not. He spends most of his time travelling the seven gates looking for a way home. Hardly having time to come to the Inn and socialize.
The Seven Gates are portals Specifically alligned with the celestial constalations of magic. The serve as a door way for any traveller seeking to go between any realm or plane. They are located in the Tower of Knowledge, on the outer ridges of the realm of magic. Created eons ago by the gods of old, these mystical gates served as door ways to each other planes.
Upon The Fall the gates were throw into the outer reaches of the planes. Unusable to the Gods to hide from their enemies. They were destroyed and the gates forgotten, by all but one. A scribe working to write the history of the gods during The Fall recorded the gates passing in his books. He was killed during the Fall of the old gods but his books were found by Dalagus, during his first years with in the Tower of Knowleadge. Finding them in a secret chamber, hidden far beneath the initial structure. Here too he found the first gate and the six other empty spots for the others.
He study the books and learned of the gates, then seeked them out in hopes that they would be able to return him home. Hopefully they could break the curse placed upon him by Darken. Dalagus still searches for away to unlock the secrets behind the mystical gates.
Hidden here is the personal collection of Knowledge brought here by Dalagus himself. In his search for a passage home he has collect much information about the realms he has travelled to. Among this collection is many books on dark rituals taken from evil necromancers and wizards to stay there power over the weak. Dalagus fights to defend those who can not do it themselves despite his own problems. He is unrelenting in his work, once he sets his mind to something he rarely gives up.
Dalagus after coming into the RavensDell Inn one night and found himself the victim of an assault constructed by Reyan. His arch enemy found him on that night and drugged his wine, leaving the mage defenseless. After falling asleep Reyan attempted to to kill him but was stopped by some of the Inns more righteous patrons. Seeing the mage in trouble they came to his aid, keeping Reyan from taking him back to Darkrealm, to a fate worse then death.
