Split Form (Wiz 9; Alteration, Conjuration, Necromancy)
(Mentalism, Metamagic)
Range: 0
Components: V, S
Duration: 1 rd./level
Casting Time: 1 round
Area of Effect: The caster
Saving Throw: None
This spell allows a multi-class wizard to literally split himself into two separate-but identical-beings, who can both think and move independently. This totally strips the abilities of one of the caster's classes, manifesting them in the conjured body. Although the caster can not use these abilities with his original body, he is now in two places at once and can use twice the abilities or attacks he could prior to casting this potent spell. (If any of these bodies are destroyed, but not both, the other body or another being can resurrect the fallen split form; otherwise the powers of the fallen body are lost to the caster until the spell duration ends.)
Any and all spells that are currently functioning on the caster when he is split also function on all of his "selves"; although any and all uses are subtracted from the spell and it may end normally if the spell in question only has a certain number of uses. These other selves can only communicate to each other by their normal means, and if the caster has psionics he can contact his other "selves" without effort, as he is still considered to be one being in mindset; although spells and powers that affect one body's mind do not affect all the bodies.
For example, Lord-Prince Jordon "Piper" Silverblade (hem F28/Wild M28/C28; hp 148; S 19, D 19, C25 (19), I 22, W 21, Ch 18, Com 19) casts this spell, conjuring a body to contain his clerical essence.
The split bodies of the caster would then each bear a fraction of the caster's total hit points equal to the number of bodies he is currently in (either half or a third; round up). Jordon would then have two separate bodies to use and would become the following beings (for simplicity Jordon and Piper will be used to differentiate between the two beings): Jordon (hem F28/Wild M28) and Piper (hem C28) each having 74 hit points.
The sight of the caster ripping himself in half-yet remaining whole-is very unnerving and causes all creatures with less than 8 Hit Dice or levels to flee in panic. Necromancers receive a saving throw vs. petrification to avoid this effect.
Triple-class characters can cast this spell multiple times to separate into each of their classes. This spell may also be ended any time the caster wills it, as long as the bodies split by this spell can physically touch each other (This is the only instance that the powers of a split form can be regained by the caster before the spell ends).
Notes: Restricted to multi-class wizards; very rare.
