This is a special robe of the archmagi that can be worn by any wizard with a partially neutral alignment (LN, N, CN, NG, NE). It is a black robe with embroidered flames that covering its surface. The flames can appear to flicker and burn, as desired by the wearer. This unique robe also protects its wielder from fire under normal circumstances as a ring of fire resistance, but if the damage were enough to kill the wizard, he is reduced to ½ of his total hit points. If already below half of his total hit points the wizard is instead reduced to ¼ of his current total. All spell effects are cast at the level of the wizard wearing the robe (or at the minimum level to cast the spell).
The wearer of this robe can cause its flames to affect nearby creatures as a fire charm spell or have them function as a chill shield (not fire shield) each once per day. The wizard wearing the robe can use either of these abilities in addition to spellcasting, or he may use both abilities in the same round. During the round in which both powers are used, no actions other than movement can be made.
