This spell brings into being a large, emerald green dragonfly with the head of a dragon. This creature flies above the caster and breathes fire on his enemies. The appearance of the dragonfly causes every creature with less than 5 Hit Dice or levels to must pass an immediate morale check or run away in terror. The next round the dragonfly can breath green fiery energy at opponents, who are within the area of affect (90 feet at 12th, 95 feet at 13th, etc.). The dragonfly's breath weapon causes 2d6 points of damage, plus 2 points per level of the caster. In subsequent rounds, the dragonfly can change targets and attack creatures within a 90° field of vision.
Spell duration is one round per three levels of the caster, to a maximum of six rounds, so a 12th-level caster's dragonfly can attack with its breath three times, a 15th-level caster's can attack four times, and so on. Exposed items carried by those who fail their saving throws, must save vs. Magical Fire or be destroyed (magical items are rendered nonmagical).
The material component of Vendralen's Dragonfly is a scale of an adult or older dragon.
