This spell is an improved version of the teleport without error spell, and also very similar to the teleport dead spell. The caster is able to transport a a certain amount of weight that is on or close at hand to the caster, to a well-known destination. Distance is not a factor.
Note: That only dead or undead matter can thus be transported by this spell. So if a living being had Kae'man's staff when the spell occurs, the staff would be teleported, yet the being would be left behind, robbed of his treasure. Likewise, Kae'man can use this magic to retrieve not only his items, but some of his undead that would be otherwise left behind.
The caster is able to retrieve a maximum weight of 250 pounds, plus an additional 150 pounds for each level of experience above the 10th he possesses; thus, a 16th-level wizard use teleport retrieval up gather up to 1150 pounds. The spell also enables the caster to retrieve matter from other planes of existence, but any such plane is, at best, "studied carefully." This assumes that the caster can see (or has very recently seen) the area and has, in fact, actually been to the plane and carefully perused an area for an eventual teleportation spell. The table for the teleport spell is used, with the caster's knowledge of the area to which transportation is desired used to determine the chance of error. (For an exception, see the 9th-level wizard spell succor.) The matter so arriving to the caster can do nothing else in the round that it appears from the teleport retrieval.
This spell was devised by Kae'man to procure his corpse host’s body and all his items. So that barely a trace of him would be left for investigation.
Notes: Rare spell.
