Spirituality

Written: OCT 3, 2003

Spirituality is in you,
It isn’t in a book,
Or that man on the stage.
You need not seek it,
It is always within you,
Without you all of ours is.
You cannot find it,
Do not search a book,
Look not to heavenly babble.
See inside yourself,
There lies our power,
The inscrutable truths.
Know yourself,
Be true to yourself,
Then you can learn.
About us all and our bonds,
The links that connect us all,
No single version of god does that.
Perhaps that is the secret,
We are all enwrapped in it,
And we seek to label it.
In our ignorance we overlook it;
The simplicity is there, but unworthy,
Something so great must be complex.
Yet if we are truly all as one,
Cannot the simple minded know it,
Will the loving child not be a part?
Surely they are, and in arrogance
We demean our kin,
All creeds and colors.
Creeds we need not,
For the us involved,
All I need is you, and you them.

And together we are all.
