Shadow Manse (Wiz 5; Alteration, Enchantment/Charm)
(Shadow)

Range: 20 yds.
Components: V, S, M
Duration: 1d4 hrs. + 1 hr./level
Casting Time: 2 turns
Area of Effect: 30 sq. ft./level
Saving Throw: None

This spell alters an existing shadow to become a sheltering house or tower-like structure in which the wizard can reside. This dwelling is called into existence in between the Prime Material Plane and the Demiplane of Shadow! It is connected to both and is also dependent on the source of the shadow used.
For example, the shadow of a real tower is used to cast this spell. Later the original tower is destroyed; then the wizard and all others in the shadow manse must make a saving throw vs. spell to escape the ruined shadow source! If the shadows left by the towers destruction are at least half of the original used to cast the spell, the shadow manse is unaffected and the wizard can still come and go as he pleases.
The dwelling created by the shadow manse spell appears to be nothing more than the shadow of it's source, although creatures associated with shadows (like shadow mages) and those from the Demiplane of Shadow recognize it for what it truly is, a shadow dwelling. This dwelling is perfectly blended with the shadows it was created from, effectively making it invisible. It also conceals all telltale signs of habitation, including smoke, light, or sound coming from within the structure. All creatures or characters who are exceptionally well-tuned to their surroundings (elves, druids, rangers, and various sylvan creatures) may attempt a saving throw vs. spell to spot the hidden place of the wizard if they pass within 30 feet; all other creatures cannot find the shadow manse without the aid of true seeing or similar magic.
In all other respects, the shadow manse resembles Leomund’s secure shelter. The interior is level, clean, and dry, and the whole thing is sturdily constructed of shadow material. It is secure against winds up to 100 miles per hour, impervious to normal missiles, and the doors, windows and chimney have the option to be shadow locked and guarded by an alarm spell. Simple furnishings include up to ten bunks, a small writing desk, a trestle table and benches, and an optional unseen servant to wait on the wizard. (If any of the optional secondary spells are added on to this spell, then the casting time goes up to one hour.)
The material components of the shadow manse is the shadow of an existing structure or similar thing that creates a shadow large enough to contain the manse (the shadow need only be one tenth the real size of the shadow manse, as shadows are not always the real size of their source object). If the secondary spells are to be included, their material components are required also.

Note: Restricted to shadow mages; rare.
