Spells of the SPELLSPHERE

Renew Relic — Songblade
(Alteration)

Level: 2
Range: Touch
Components: V, S, M
Duration: 1 rd.
Casting Time: 2
Area of Effect: 1 object
Saving Throw: None

This spell is a greater form of mending, in which it will renew an object that is no heavier than 10 pounds per level of the caster, or larger than 1 cubic foot per level the caster has attained. Once the object is renewed, it functions and looks as if it were in perfect condition and from then on bears no magic aura or blemish, unless later harmed by outside forces.
The spell requires raw materials of equal quality to that which was destroyed or missing from the object to be renewed. Thus a steel long sword that was melted in half could be once again made whole if all of the metal, melted or otherwise, were still present during the casting of renew relic.
If insufficient raw materials are not present, the caster can substitute his own items or others he has gained to be used as raw material for the “regenerating” of the item in question. So in the above case of the melted long sword, the caster could instead use an equal amount of steel from any source, such as a short sword, or possibly a few daggers, etc. Items used in this way to repair the chosen item would then be rendered broken, melted or likewise affected transposing any damages done to the renewed item on the raw materials or other source(s) of the renewal process.
The material component for this spell is a quantity of the substance needed to replace of make whole the item the spell is cast upon.
Notes: Known to Wiquaestreal Evanero of the Forgotten Realms setting; rare.
