Spells of the SPELLSPHERE

Orion's Singsong
(Conjuration/Summoning, Enchantment/Charm)
(Song)

Level: 1
Range: 30 yds.
Components: V
Duration: 5 rds./level
Casting Time: 1
Area of Effect: Special
Saving Throw: None

This spell is more an ancient magical song or faerie magic, as it conjures little sprites and pixies to sing a jolly old song from ancient times woven with arcane words of power. This song calls on all of the beings in the area to be peaceful and content. Thus all squabbling comes to a halt immediately and more unkind acts may cease to become a problem.
All within earshot feel calm and satisfied; otherwise, all those creatures within 30 feet of each other can be affected by this spell. This spell works according to Hit Dice, just as the 1st-level wizard spell sleep, affecting 2d4 Hit Dice worth of creatures. Monsters with 4+3 Hit Dice (4 Hit Dice plus 3 hit points) or more are unaffected. The center of the area of effect is chosen by the caster. The creatures with the least amount of Hit Dice are affected first, and partial effects are ignored.
For example, a wizard casts Orion's singsong at three kobolds, two gnolls, and an ogre. The roll (2d4) result is 4. All of the kobolds and a single gnoll are affected by the singsong (½ + ½ + ½ + 2 = 3 ½ Hit Dice). Note that the remainder is not enough to affect the last gnoll or the ogre, so it is lost.
This bestows no power of suggestion or friendship, as in respect to the charm person or friends spell, yet it causes fighting to cease for those affected. Plus from then on the affected creatures will no longer fight unless attacked, and then they will only defend themselves.

Notes: Uncommon spell.
