This potent spell allows the caster to enhance his level for the purposes of spell research! This spell operates by transforming the casters physical attributes into mental wizard levels. Yazston DeVir created this spell, so he may better prepare himself for his eventual attack on the drow who brought about his family's deaths and the destruction of his Noble house.

When casting this spell the wizard enters a trance-like state, his muscles and health greatly deteriorate, lowering the wizards Strength, Dexterity, Constitution, and Charisma scores each by 1 point for every level the caster gains from this spell! This temporary loss of ability returns at a rate of 1 point of each attribute per week. Thus, the caster becomes a mental mage in a sense, as his mental abilities now far exceed his paltry physical body!

The wizards level is then boosted by a third of his normal level up to a maximum of 18th level, the lowest needed to create any level of spell. This boost in levels can last up to 1 week for every 2 levels the caster has achieved (the "real" level of the caster, not the boosted level). The spell can also be cancelled by the will of the caster, and when the spell duration ends the caster loses consciousness for 1 hour for every level gained by this spell.

Furthermore, the mage cannot cast any spells of his highest spell level while in this weakened state. Those spells he can cast are cast at 2 levels higher, if this does nothing for the spell, he instead gains +1 damage per die or imposes a -2 saving throw penalty the spell's victim(s). The recipient of this spell need not even move to design and research spells and items. He truly becomes a mental mage, becoming almost incorporeal and floating (MV 3) about as if he were a ghost. In this state the caster need only think of what he needs to read or experiment with and it is as if he were actually performing the actions. The items to be used in the research or experimentation must be within the same building or general area (100 yards) in order to be used in this way.

There are no material components for mental mage in the traditional sense, as only the caster's mind is needed to cast this spell.
