Lester's Maximus Magicus — Nimbral Mage
(Alteration, Phantasm)
(Incantation)
Level: 3
Range: 0
Components: V, S, M
Duration: 1 turn/level
Casting Time: 6
Area of Effect: The caster
Saving Throw: None
This spell boosts the spells of the caster by a portion of his normal experience, thus adding to the power of his magics for the purposes of breaking through the vision and wards of more experienced beings and spells. Once cast the caster’s spells are all considered to be one level higher in power for every three levels of experience (round down) the caster currently bears. Furthermore, all illusion and phantasm spells are also considered to be +1 level, even before the initial bonus. Thus all illusion/phantasm spells are automatically considered to be of the next higher level, then the level-based boost is added in.
Thus the 3rd-level spell nondetection cast by a 5th-level Nimbral mage who had cast this spell would first be considered to be a 4th-level spell, plus it is then boosted to a 5th-level spell [spell level: 4 (including initial +1 bonus) + 1 for one third his experience level]; although if the same mage cast fireball or any other non-illusion spell of the same level, it would be cast at 4th-level [spell level: 3 + 1 for one third his experience level].
The material component of Lester’s maximus magicus is a cocoon of a rare butterfly or moth, and a lock of hair of a seasoned wizard (one of at least 16th-level).
Notes: Restricted to Nimbral mages; rare spell.
