This spell creates a flickering lance of crackling blue lightning 1-foot in diameter and 20-feet long. This lance of lightning flies unerringly at its target, trailing sparks at a movement rate of 21 (A). Anyone struck by the lance itself suffers 2 points of damage for every level the wizard has achieved (up to a maximum of 20 damage for a 10th-level caster). A successful saving throw vs. spell reduces this damage by half.
Furthermore, anyone within a 5-foot radius of the lance is struck by trailing sparks and is covered in tiny, crawling blue lightning for 4 rounds that act as a faerie fire spell, but grants only a +1 to hit the affected beings in reduced lighting conditions. A successful save vs. spell reduces this effect to only a single round.
The material component for Lester's lightning lance is a bit of fur and a sliver of amber, crystal, or glass.
