Lester's Forgotten Finery — Illusionist
(Alteration, Evocation, Illusion/Phantasm)
Level: 3
Range: 0
Components: S
Duration: Special
Casting Time: 1 turn/level
Area of Effect: The caster
Saving Throw: None
This spell alters the caster's appearance and spellcasting abilities. Any time after the forgotten finery is cast, any and all 1st level spells have a chance of being enhanced in power! This enhancement occurs if a percentage roll against the Power Score of the wizard is successful. A wizards Power Score is calculated by the following method for the case of this spell: double the caster's level + his Intelligence score (a wizard's Power Score is doubled for the purposes of enhancing his school of specialization in the case specialist wizard's). To cast this potent spell, the caster spends the casting time summoning raw magic from the Weave and interlacing it with the material of his clothing.
If the spell is enhanced it causes double damage (for those spells with a set amount of damage) or the die count is unlimited (thus a burning hands cast by a 26th-level mage under the effects of this spell could have his spell cause 1d3+52 points of damage in stead of the maximum 1d3+20); this effect echoes that of the former spellcasting ability of old, before Karsus ruined the Weave with his arrogance! To cast this potent spell, the caster spends the casting time summoning raw magic from the Weave and interlacing it with the material of his clothing. (If this clothing is destroyed-by taking twice the caster's level in damage-the spell ends immediately.)
Notes: This spell was created by Lester Lesserspell and is restricted to Illusionists; very rare.
