This is in fact three separate magical items! And all three are listed separately below. This weapon is the signature item of Rolt, who is now known as Caldath’yn.
Helimbrash
XP Value: 1,300 GP Value: 6,500
The sword is a frostbrand bastard sword and as such, always provides a +3 bonus. The +6 bonus takes affect against creatures that use fire or live in fiery environments. The weapon does not shed any light, except when the air temperature is below 0 degrees Fahrenheit. It does give special benefits against fire, for its wielder is protected as if he were wearing a ring of fire resistance.
Glorieslideth (Dwarven for “Glittering Hand Guardian”)
XP Value: 6,600 GP Value: 33,000
The second magical item that constitutes the weapon Helimbrash is a magical hand guard that has barbaric runes the detail its history and the history of the now fallen city of the same name. Originally made of rune covered crystal that was harder than adamantine, Rolt (now named Caldath’yn) had a steal enchantment spell cast by Piper to transfer the magic and sentient essences into a stone hand guard built for his famed broadsword!
Similar to an elven moonblade, it gains an ability similar to one needed or possessed by the current wielder; otherwise it stays with the owner to the death. The hand guard currently has the following abilities:
This hand guard is not a part of the sword it is attached to and may not be destroyed if the sword is broken or otherwise destroyed. It saves as either metal or crystal on the item saving throw Tables, using which ever is the better save. In addition, it receives a +7 bonus to all of its saving throws.
Wrappings of the Dragonclaw
XP Value: 1,500 GP Value: 7,500
Lastly, there are also magical white leather handle wrappings that allow the weapon it is affixed on to return to the wielder as rings of readiness. This leather was taken from a remorhaz and cured over the dying creatures own back as it breathed its final breath. Also, this item is not a part of the sword it is attached to and may not be destroyed if the sword is broken or otherwise destroyed.
