Held by Nothing

Written: JAN 17, 2004

Secured by loving arms
Around me, consoling me not.
A firm grasp of years keeps
These talons entrenched in
A darkening soul; stirring any
Happiness to murky darkness.
Limbs caressing me wholly,
Yet touching me not at all.
An empty embrace shielding me
From any other touch that could
Elevate me from despair
And out of the realms of
Loneliness entire; a wizened
Fondling that leaves me
Wanting, torn for grace,
And wishing to be not
Held by nothing.
