Art of the SPELLSPHERE

Gold Vision (Wiz 5; Alteration, Evocation)
(Fire)

Range: Special
Components: V, S, M
Duration: 1 turn/level
Casting Time: 1 rd.
Area of Effect: The caster
Saving Throw: Special

This spell transforms the caster's eyes into glowing gold, with flickering flames dancing across their surface. This magical vision allows the mage to see with wizard sight and detect invisibility.

The mage can also shoot from her eyes, beams of fire that causes 1d4 points of damage per level of the caster, up to a maximum of 10d4. The beams can reach anywhere the caster can see. The fire beams can be used in addition to any other actions the caster may do in the round, but this reduces the duration of the spell by 2 turns (if less than 2 turns duration remain, the fire beams cannot be used). Targets of the fire beam attacks receive a saving throw vs. Spell to half the damage taken. Normal or magical fire protection does not protect against this spell.

The mage must be standing in full sunlight to cast this spell.

Notes: Restricted to Fire Elementalists; common for Sun mages, otherwise rare.
