Unforgetable Dark Magics

Evaporate the Living
(Necromancy)

Level: 8
Range: 20 yards/level
Components: V, S, M
Casting Time: 8
Duration: Instantaneous
Area of Effect: 30-foot cube
Saving Throw: ½

This spell is very similar to Abi-Dalzim’s horrid wilting, except that it causes the skin and muscle tissue to liquefy and evaporate into the atmosphere from the bodies of all living creatures (undead are unaffected) within the area. This nasty necromancy inflicts 1d6 points of damage per level of the caster, to a maximum of 16d6. Affected creatures are allowed a saving throw, with success indicating half damage.

In addition to this damage suffered, the victims receive a –1 penalty to Charisma for every 3 levels of the caster, this to is halved if the saving through for half damage was successful. This Charisma penalty is to reflect the nature of missing skin and muscle fibers from all over their bodies.

It is said that a person affected is often worse looking than the dead, which is much to the enjoyment of the spell’s creator, Kae’man, although his sure grin at the statement is most likely because he forgot he heard it. Thus it is a new joke every time.

The material component is a bit of sponge soaked in blood.

Notes: Rare spell.
