By means of this spell, the target (whose HD or level does not exceed twice the caster’s) believes that it has just been slain by a power word: kill. The target falls to the ground as if dead and, to all outward appearances, is dead. In actuality, the target enters a cataleptic state that is impossible to distinguish from death. The target is unaware of the events that occur while the effects of the spell last, and instead is treated to a convincing illusion of being buried dead beneath damp, worm-ridden soil. While under the influence of this spell, the target is particularily vulnerable to wounding or mistreatment of its body; what only seems true could really come to pass if the target’s compatriots are too hasty in disposing of the "body".
To cast the spell, the wizard points his index finger at the target and silently mouths the word, “die,” lending credence to the spell’s imagined effect.
