Coup de Gras [Str 0] (2 slots)

The Coup de Gras is the Warrior’s signature strike, the stroke of grace that ends combat with a single blow and inspires Bards to compose epic poetry, romanticizing the battle. The warrior with the Coup de Gras power is still entitled to additional damage whenever his attack roll is a natural 18, 19, or 20 and is at least five points above the required roll to hit. In these cases, the warrior inflicts double damage.

If the critical hit tables are used, the Coup de Gras comes into full effect on the roll of a natural 20, instead of the above additional damage, it grants the user to roll from the a worse critical hit category on the table by allowing him to add his level to the percentile dice roll. Or in case of rolls on a table that doesn’t get worse as the rolls get higher, the user may pick his critical from the critical hits directly above or below his actual roll on the table.

This style was originally shown in Dragon Magazine in an article named: Fighting with Flair by Lance Hawvermale and is copyrighted to that individual and Wizards of the Coast under the TSR copyrights. I take no credit for the main theme of the proficiency, just modifying it to better suit my style of play.
