Spells of the SPELLSPHERE

Burstfield of Telekinetics — Minxaer’Iqe
(Alteration, Conjuration/Summoning)
(Force, Mentalism)

Level: 8
Range: 10 yds. + 5 yds./2 levels
Components: S, M
Duration: 1 rd./level
Casting Time: 4
Area of Effect: 70’ cube
Saving Throw: Neg.

This spell is similar to a combined push and telekinesis spell. It throws all objects away from the caster, causing everything in a 70-foot cube around him to shoot out and away from him at an extremely fast rate of movement. This causes invisible forces to strike against all objects and beings that the caster wishes to be affected (this is instantaneous in each round at the unadjusted initiative of the caster); although the caster can only choose for this to effect all objects or only one object that he chooses and points at.
When this effects such objects, it can only move objects that are up to 25 pounds per level of the caster. Damage caused by hurled objects is decided by the DM, but cannot exceed 1 point of damage per level of the caster. Opponents who fall within the weight capacity of this spell can be hurled, but receive a saving throw vs. spell at a -4 penalty to suffer only half effects and damage, if any. Otherwise the spell causes force equivalent to 2 foot-pounds per level of the caster. Thus a 16th-level wizard can move a 32-pound object up to 32 feet in a direction directly away from the caster, topple an object under the proper conditions, cause a creature to lose it’s balance, or disrupt a spell.
Other creatures are unbalanced only if the force of the telekinetic burst multiplied by 100 does not exceed the creature’s mass; that is, a 16th-level wizard can effectively push a creature weighing up to 160 pounds. Such a creature is unable to attack that round if it fails a saving throw vs. spell at a -4 penalty.
The telekinetic burst can be used (against one specific individual, as seen above) against an object held by an attacking creature. The opponent’s attack roll or the defender’s saving throw against the attack, as applicable, is reduced by the level of the caster of the burstfield of telekinetics spell, up to a total penalty of -20 (the creature deducts the level of the spellcaster from his THAC0: 16, 17, 18, 19, to the maximum of 20). Further, the attacking creature must make a saving throw vs. spell or have the object torn from his grasp and propelled with the full force of this spell.
Likewise, an opposing spell being cast is interrupted and ruined by the telekinetic burst if the opposing caster fails his saving throw vs. spell. This saving throw is likewise reduced (as seen in the paragraph above) by up to -20, depending on the force of the telekinetic burst.
The material component of the burstfield of telekinetics is a small puzzle ball that is made from pieces created from powdered brass wrapped in wraith spider silk. This puzzle ball is then thrown and shattered against the ground (or broken apart if too far from, or in a place where there is no ground).

Notes: Restricted to the Minxaer’Iqe; uncommon.
