The Wessex Model Boat club 88 of Bournemouth, Dorset, was re-formed as the title suggests in 1988, to cover all aspects of Model Boating. At present there are approx 30 club members, of all ages. During the summer months from April to October, the club meets every Sunday at a private lake near Mannington, close to Three Legged Cross. There are also two other lakes available to the club, and these are :- rear of Bournemouth Hospital, and Queens Park Golf links. There are also ‘dry meetings ‘ held at the Avon Social club, Avon Rd, Springbourne,where all aspects of Model Boating are discussed, these take place on the last Thursday of each month (excluding December) at 7:30pm in the 1st floor Committee room.
Within the club there is a wealth of modelling experience, that covers electronics, kit building, and scratch building, through Sailing craft, Warships, Submarines Commercial Shipping, & Power boat racing. We hold several Regatta’s through out the summer, with Trophy’s and certificates awarded at the Nov AGM. We are a friendly club, with the accent on enjoyment for all. All new members are welcome, irrespective of age or genre.
